August 28, 2009 By: venice-apartments Category: Venice

The Venice International Film Festival, known as La Mostra, celebrates this year its 66th edition. Although it is an annual festival, it is organized by the Venice Biennale and will run from 2nd to 12th September 2009.

There the 23 movies competing to obtain the awaited Gold Lion have been made public, as well as the name of the new president of the jury, the famous Taiwanese director Ang Lee, who has won two Gold Lions with Desire and Danger and Brokeback Mountain. Besides Lee, the jury will count with Sandrine Bonnaire, Liliana Cavani, Joe Dante, Anurag Kashyap and Luciano Ligabue.

The awards include the Golden Lion for best film, the Silver Lion for the best director, the Special Jury Award, the Volpi Cups for the best actor and actress, the Marcello Mastroianni Award for the best young actor and actress, and The Osella Award for the best technical support and the best screenplay.

This year a new section called Controcampo Italiano will be realized. It will focus on the latest trends of the Italian cinema with seven fiction and non-fiction productions.

Italy is the country with the highest number of films submitted to the Festival, followed by the United States. The movie “Baaría”, by Giuseppe Tornatore will open this year’s edition and the science-fiction film “Chengdo, wu ai ni”, by Fruit Chan and the rock star Cui Jian will close it. Among others, the works “A Single Man” by Tom Ford and “Capitalis: A Love Story” by Michael Moore will be present.

Out of contest will participate Oliver Stone with “South of the Border”, and two Spanish works, “REC 2″, by Paco Plaza and Jaume Balagueró and “Mudanza” by Pere Portabella in the Horizons section. Due to the huge success the 3D cinema is enjoying, the prestigious Venice Film Festival will award for the first time this year the best three-dimensional film, opening a new category for this type of production. Nine movies will compete for the prize: “Ice Age: Dawn of the Dinosaurs”, “Monsters vs. Aliens” and “Up”, among others.

Another novelty is the Golden Lion for the Career. For the first time it will be given to the animated cinema: the director and American producer John Lasseter will receive the September 6th, together with the other directors of the Disney-Pixar, the prestigious award after the presentation of “Toy Story” and “Toy Story 2.” To close, The Mostra will also reward Sylvester Stallone the “Jaeger-LeCoultre Glory to the Filmmaker Award”.

Even the great Festival of Venice has not been able to escape the financial crisis plaguing the world, and this edition will be marked by many protests against the cuts that Berlusconi has made in the cinema and entertainment world.

Do you want to attend this fantastic Venetian event? If so, rent apartments in Venice and discover the magic of a unique city that is filled with stars. Don’t miss it!

From Cupid to Internet: Love in the Times of Chat-- Apartments in Spain

From Cupid to Internet: Love in the Times of Chat

Times have changed and these days it is not Cupid who launches his arrows of love. For a number of years now newer technologies have left poor cupid out in the cold and the Internet seems to be the new God of Love. The new technologies are gaining followers in people’s personal relations: chats, forums, social networks, dating sites… Any media is good for love, provided it is done via the Internet. Who has not heard nowadays of a cyber couple?

The chats are the pioneers and the kings of cyber love. Under anonymous identities (nicknames), people gather in chat rooms, also known as channels to talk. The chats have become the perfect medium of thousands of people around the world to find their mate. In many cases, people from opposite ends of the planet have left their lives to start a new relationship that all started in a chat room.

The forums are another great way to meet people via Internet. These web sites, where concrete topics are debated, have turned into perfect places to find love. Hundreds of people discuss common topics such as motorcycles, health, beauty, sport … Thus, they talk about a common hobby and it is easier to interact.

The dating sites are equivalent to the dating agencies, but through the Internet. It’s as simple as filling out the form with your details and preferences, and ¡Voi la! You will find hundreds of profiles similar to yours to help you in finding your soul mate. You have to pay for some of these dating sites, but there are others that are totally free! Many of them have more than 15 million users! Who said that people do not feel like falling in love?

Today’s society lives in a great solitude, and the Internet has broken that barrier. Finding love is much easier thanks to these new technologies. This opens many doors in the eternal topic of “women seeking men”, “men seeking men” or “women seeking women”. For those addicted to love the Internet offers many possibilities: sending virtual kisses or postcards, sending flowers without leaving home, or getting the most original and flattering poems.

For those who think that the virtual world is cold and distant, nothing can be further from the truth! There are also a large number of people who have met up via the Internet and arranged to meet each other in person. The big capitals are often the preferred cities to organize these cyber meetings, as there are people from all over the world. An example is the Spanish capital of Madrid. The best way to find cheap accommodation is to rent apartments in Madrid. And now, are you ready to fall in love?

Body Piercing | Tattoos | Scarification | Body Implants | Apartments Blog

When there are still people who see tattoos and piercing as an aberration and a way of bodily injury, new extreme aesthetic trends that few dare to wear appear: the scarification, the implants and the mutilation. These techniques of body decoration are the most modern practices that adorn the human body; however, some of them have their origin in the most ancient and faraway civilizations of the world. In some big cities like Berlin they have been introduced gradually. Probably, as it has happened with tattoos and piercing, they will gain a wide acceptance in record time.

extreme-aesthetics

In the process of scarification, scars are formed by cutting or branding the skin. This technique is as old as the Mayan civilization, which used scarification for aesthetic purposes. Some African and American cultures also see these tattoos as a way of beauty. Today, people see the scarification as a simple aesthetic issue, but there are those who think that this is merely a way of self-mutilation.

Branding is a tattoo technique with similar results to scarification, but instead of cutting by scalpel, hot metal plates are used to burn the skin. This is a slow, laborious and very painful technique. The resulting scar is similar in both cases. While the more rounded the scar is, the more beautiful the tattoo is. Therefore, some people start the scabs or put vinegar on the wounds to provoke infections to get some volume on the tattoo.

Implants are a very recent body art with about 10 years of history. They are not yet fully accepted among society, but in United States they are spreading quickly. This technique consists of introducing pieces of surgical equipment of different composition under the skin to give it different forms: stars, hearts, horns… Usually, they are placed under the arms, chest or head, where the skin is more elastic.

The mutilations are without a doubt the new artistic technique that is less accepted by society. An example is to cut the tongue in a half to give the appearance of a snake’s tongue or to file the teeth to give them the aspect of vampire teeth.

Do you like these new ways of decorating the body? You should travel to the German capital and discover all these new trends. To have a comfortable stay, rent Apartments in Berlin and enjoy a great European city.

The Tomatina festival in Valencia | Tomato Festival in Valencia | Valencia Blog

The Valencian Tomatina Festival

Back in 1945 two Valencian boys fought by throwing tomatoes at each other. From that moment on was the start of what we know today as the Tomatina, one of the most famous Spanish festivals worldwide. The Tomatina is a battle of tomatoes. It’s hilarious : no bulls, no weapons ! Only thousands of tomatoes that are thrown among the congregated crowd. Everything takes in Buñol, close to Valencia on the last Wednesday of August. Every year this original festival attracts many young and enthusiastic people, searching for excitement and entertainment based on tomatoe throwing. During the lively battle, the participants have fun throwing tomatoes at everybody.

tomatina

The party starts at 9 am in the Town Square where people can have a delicious breakfast courtesy of the Town Hall. Before the battle, a huge pile of tomatoes with a delicious Spanish cured ham on the top is setup. Among the general chaos, the boldest and bravest person will attempt to climb the tomato mountain to win the juicy prize. Meanwhile, some people throw water from the balconies to the participants, that are ready for the imminent battle. At eleven o’clock the fight begins.

A truck full of “red ammunition” announces its arrival with the sound of a horn. Those who are on the trailer open fire, throwing the first tomatoes at the participants. Everybody gets crazy and so the battle begins. Finally, the truck stops, drops its shipment, and everybody tries to take some tomatoes.

People are eager to get their “arms” and in a few seconds everything turns red. Many trucks full of tomatoes, continue dropping tomatoes until a second shot anounces the ends of the hostilities. Precisely at this moment the most difficult and arduous task is about to start: to clean the brave warriors whose mind is already on next year’s Tomatina festival !

Do you want to live through an amazing and unique experience such as this? You just have to rent your apartments in Valencia and you’re good to go ! You’ll have a fabulous stay and be able to enjoy the magnificent sea and white sandy beaches, too.

Nudist Beaches in Barcelona | Barcelona Nudist | Apartments Blog

Naturism is winning followers throughout the world. Some people see it as a way of life, some people think of it as an aberration and yet others see it as a great business. In any case, it seems that this phenomenon does not stop spreading. Despite this, naturism is still seeking its place in a society that seems increasingly tolerant.

nudist-naturalist

Countries like Germany have a long naturism tradition. In the case of Spain, it is a more recent phenomenon. Only two decades have passed since the crime of public scandal was abolished, a law inherited from the Franco regime that could be applied in case someone offended “decency or morality with scandal or acts of grave importance”. But years have passed and nudism has been implemented gradually. For example, in Barcelona, there is a long list of naturist beaches. Today the law protects Spanish nudity on the beaches and the city itself is a nudist town. One can go without clothes in the street if they so wish.

In fact, the city has some urban naturist beaches near these metro stations: Barceloneta, Ciutadella, Bogatell, Poblenou, Llacuna, Selva de Mar and El Maresme Forum. The beaches of Sant Sebastian, Nova Icària, Bogatell, Mar Bella, Nova Mar Bella and Llevant, with all sorts of services - from supervision to the hire of sunbeds and bars - are the most famous.

But not all the nudist beaches of Barcelona are located in the city. In Sitges, for example, there are two popular nudist beaches: the Home Mort beach, whose access is a bit complicated, and semi-urban Balmins beach, with golden and fine sand.

In the Maresme area there are numerous beaches to choose from: as the Ponent beach in Masnou, with pedestrian access; another easily accessible beach is the Musclara beach, in Caldes d’Estrac. It also has waitress service, fine sand and it is located at the end of the maritime club; other interesting nudist beaches are the Forti beach, the Mataró beach, the Murtra beach in Sant Pol de Mar, and the Roca Grossa beach, in Calella.

In the Garraf area there is the small Morisca beach and in the Baix Llobregat area, the Parque de las Dunas beach, (in Castelldefels), with the nudist area near Gavá.

But in Barcelona there are not only nudist beaches: you can also find nudist pools as the Bernat Picornell, close to the Palau Sant Jordi on Montjuic, which open to nudists on Saturday from 21:00 to 23:00 hours and in winter from 16:15 to 18:00 hours on Sundays (beginning on October 7th).

Do not wait any more to discover this new way of life! Feel freer and more connected with nature by practising naturism! Stay in apartments in Barcelona for a pleasant and cheap stay!

Underground Rome | rome blog

Underground Rome

August 21, 2009 By: romeblogger Category: Rome

Rome, the Eternal City, is one of the most fascinating cities in Italy. It is full of glory and grace. It has always been a destination visited by millions of people because of its extreme beauty. Rome is an outdoor museum with many things to see: the Colosseum, the Trevi Fountain, the Roman walls, the Pantheon, etc.

But we don’t have to focus only on what we see at first glance, since it has many hidden mysteries. This city has an endless hidden wealth of historical and cultural value. The increasing urbanization of the Roman territory, as well as the promotion of the mining exploitation, has allowed the extraction of many buried ruins.

The door of Villa Albani was hidden for centuries. At first the archaeologists thought it was a catacomb, or something else that was used to communicate with the nearby catacomb of S. Happiness. They also assumed that it was the mysterious mausoleum of Lucilio Peto, a circular tomb built in the time of Augustus. However, the direct exploration revealed that this was a type of mining cave. They found many amphora fragments, pieces of tiles with animal representations, beautiful embroidery, gold buttons and so on.

Another example of great charm is represented by Titolo Equizio (see photo), located under one of the most famous churches of Rome, in the basement of the Basilica of S. Martino. The area of the church was affected by the construction of the Domus Aurea of Emperor Nero, and the structures of the Titus and Trajan Baths, of which some remnants still remain, including seven rooms that are still visible. It is a large rectangular room, divided into three aisles by six pillars, and it is clearly a third-century Roman building. This place was used as a covered market, or as a warehouse. But at the end of the third century it was reused as a place of Christian worship.

If you follow the Via Appia route, at the fifteenth mile, below the church and the S. Maria Estrella convent, you’ll discover the Albanian catacombs, rediscovered in 1720. Here is located a famous catacomb, and a church that holds the relics of San Senatore and S. Perpetua, as well as countless other saints and martyrs. The current entry is on the Via Appia Antica, a staircase that leads directly to the central area of the crypt lit by a large skylight. You can also see many fresco paintings, and if you look carefully, it is possible to see several layers of painted plaster, which means they are ancient paintings, and also that the early Christians used this place as a place of worship without interruption until the ninth century.

In the late nineteenth century, during the work on the Corso Vittorio Emanuele II, many Roman remains were released, but unfortunately they were destroyed. Of those which were saved; Templi dell’Area, Sacra di Largo, di Torre Argentina and the remains of the Domus Romana ai Baullari. Undoubtedly, it is worth visiting these places!

Rent apartments in Rome, you’ll be amazed by its beauty. You’ll have a comfortable and cheap stay.

Murano | Island of glass tradition | Venice blog

Murano, the Glass Island

August 20, 2009 By: venice-apartments Category: Venice

Venice is one the most romantic cities in the world. You’ll be fascinated with its canals, gondolas and typical Italian streets. You’ll be amazed at the infinity of small islands surrounding Venice. Among them: Murano. This is the most famous island of the Venetian Lagoon, where the glass tradition was born. Come to Murano to discover the Glass Island.

With its 7000 souls, Murano is the smallest island of the archipelago; it is also the most famous. This magical place was founded by the Romans and possesses a very emotional and fascinating history. Those who have never heard of the Murano glass truly have a piece missing in their culture. Because of the risks of fire, all of the glass makers had to move to Murano around the year 1291. After some time, the island became famous for its exportations and commerce.

At the beginning, craftsmen would only make pearls and mirrors, but now, the tradition has grown and every production is a piece of art. The famous “aventurine” glass comes from the island that has become over the years the main glass producer in Europe. If you’d like to discover this tradition of glass making, come to Murano and visit one of the many workshops there. Nevertheless, the main manufacturers are closed to the public because Venetian people are very careful with the secrets of glass making.

If you stroll around Central Street, you’ll get to see many craftsmen in their shops creating pearls or other items. Those shows are free and will certainly amaze you. Although you’re not obliged to buy the creations, you’re likely to fall in love with Murano’s beautiful craftsmanship.

The island has a lot to offer: besides the glass tradition, you should check out the Santa Maria Church or the San Pietro Martire Church whose architecture is fascinating. Don’t miss out on the Palazzo da Mula, a villa built during the 15th century. Chances are you won’t get bored in Murano!

Come visit one of the most romantic and amazing islands of Venice. Experience living in a fairy tale on the island of Murano, rent an apartment in Venice and have the best trip of your life!

Flashmob | Flashmobs | Flashmob Freeze | Berlin blog

Flashmobs around the world

You don’t want to spend any more boring holidays. Do you want to escape from your everyday life, even if it were just for a moment? Well, why are you complaining so much? It isn’t so difficult to find what you are looking for. You only have to visit any European capital and participate in one of the funniest flashmobs!

If you have no idea what I’m talking about, don’t worry! It’s not a sect, or a new discotheque, neither is it a new festival. A Flashmob is an action organized and carried out by a huge number of persons. This group meets spontaneously at a public place and carries out unusual things. After some minutes the mob dissolves very quickly and it seems as if nothing had happened. These actions are organized previously via Internet. The majority of them have only one aim: pure entertainment.

flashmobs

The idea goes back to the publication of the book “Smart Mobs: The Next Social Revolution” written by the sociologist Howard Rheingold in 2002. This book talks about the next generation using new technologies for a kind of self-organization. This was one of the principal reasons for the foundation of the first website in 2003 which organizes those collective actions.

The history of Flashmobs is very simple, but very funny. During the last years, uncountable group actions were organized around the world which caused great sensation. The first successful flashmob took place in New York in 2002. More than 100 people went to the store Macy´s and stood around a quite expensive rug. They told the sales assistants that they lived together in a warehouse and that they are searching for a “love rug”, but that they only made their decisions as a group. You can imagine that this action caused a lot of confusion and laughter.

However, flashmobs aren´t only organized in the country of the American dream, they also arrived to Europe. In uncountable European capitals they have already organized creative flashmobs, which make it possible for you to escape just for a moment from your everyday life. So, for example, a huge pillow-fight broke out in the very centre of Barcelona; or hundreds of passer-bys stopped moving suddenly and froze for a moment in time on the famous Alexander Platz in Berlin, then after five minutes they continued walking as if nothing had happened. Then there was Rome, where an uncountable number of people went to a bookstore asking for books that had never been written or published, or in Paris, where more than 7.500 persons organized a spontaneous dinner in white just next to the Arc de Triomphe…

First the flashmobs were just funny actions without any sense or meaning. But nowadays they are used by different social and political movements which have only one aim: to cause sensation in regard to a particular problem and to send their own message to the public. There is no better or more creative method than this idea by our new generation and the new technologies that we possess.

If you want to participate in one of the flashmobs in European capitals, then look it up on the internet. Why don’t you combine a freaky event with an unforgettable stay in Berlin? Germany’s capital will captivate you with its many monuments, museums and fascinating places full of cultural and historical importance. Berlin offers you as well a very special and enchanting atmosphere. Rent apartments in Berlin: the best alternative for having a cheap and comfortable accommodation during your holidays. So, do you want to try it?

Nowadays, people tend to take more and more drugs. In big cities and European capitals, new drugs are created and adapt to different social groups and trends. But what exactly do we understand by “drugs”? And how has the consumption of these substances evolved?

First of all, we need to understand what drugs really are. Official definitions are:

  • Mineral, vegetal, or animal substance used in medicine, industry or fine arts.
  • Substance or medical preparation with stimulating, depressing, narcotic or hallucinating effects.

drug consumption

Basically, drugs affect the normal functions of the Central Nervous System. There is a classification of drugs according to the effects they produce; depressing substances would be: alcohol, cannabis, and any drug that’s inhaled. Stimulating drugs are cocaine, nicotine, and amphetamines. Hallucinating substances are LSD, psilocybin, and synthetic drugs. In a way, one might think that it’s no big deal to take stuff that affects his/her mood but today, we know that drugs create a physical and psychological dependency and that its consumption destroys the health and life of whoever takes it.

Nevertheless, mankind has known and used drugs since the world existed. All civilizations from Assyrians to modern societies have taken drugs for all kinds of reasons: religion, rituals, medicine, habits, etc. In western culture, drugs are taboo especially since the 80’s when the first laws against drug consumption emerged. The famous Seca law in the US prohibited alcohol consumption. Considering the amount of deaths due to tobacco and alcohol, 2 legal and socially accepted drugs, this law hasn’t been very efficient…

Speaking of drug consumption, social behaviours have changed over time: 30 years ago, LSD, marijuana, and hashish were very popular in Amsterdam which influenced a lot European habits. Also, we need to take into account social and cultural movements like the Hippies. Scandinavia and Great Britain were into amphetamines (Ectasy, XTC…) and drugs that can be inhaled (gas, glue…). Music also has had an impact on people’s consumption: in house, trance and techno environments, cocaine is rather common, whether rock and indie fans are more likely to smoke pot.

Spain is definitely a good example of what happens after 40 years of repression: all kinds of drugs have been circulating abundantly but today, things are calming down somewhat and the drug consumption level is now similar to that of other European capitals.

It’s true that the nightlife is a constant invitation to try new things, but be careful! Drugs are not something you can fool around with. How about you try something safer like good music, a few friends and a magnificent city? Rent the best apartments in Madrid and get some drug-free fun there!

Flirting european style | Seville Blog

How do Europeans flirt?

Posted by seville | seville | Tuesday 18 August 2009 10:35 am

One may think that in these hard times of financial crisis and with the disadvantages of globalization humans have completely forgotten one of the most important things in the world: how to flirt. But recent surveys show us the opposite: while some Europeans are true ladies men, the poor Germans are in the penultimate position and are therefore viewed as a lost cause.

Over the last few years several surveys have been carried out in European countries to verify those who are more flirtatious / man eaters and especially how the Europeans flirt. The results have not revealed many surprises. As we all know, the flirt champions are the Italians. To the question;  “of what country is  the man of your dreams from?” Most women answered that they prefer the Italians, while the Swedish women prefer the British men. The Spanish women have also obtained good results: according to the studies, the French men, the Swedish men and the British men are crazy for the beautiful Spanish women. The Germans, however, are real losers and they occupy the lowest place in the scale of the “perfect couple”.

Regarding the first impression, the opinions vary depending on the different European countries. The Frenchmen concentrate more on the aspect and the general impression of first sight, the British men centre on the face, and the Spanish and the Swedish look at their “love victims” deeply.

Regarding the first date, European people share the same opinion: the man has to take the first step. The Germans, the Frenchmen and Spanish prefer going to a coffee shop (café) on their first dates, while the Swedish to a restaurant and the British to a bar. It appears that the Germans are also declaring their readiness to have a multicultural, relationship followed by the Spanish, Swedish and British who all love to flirt whilst on holiday.

To flirt is not just a way of passing the time, but it is a typical behaviour of all cultures and societies and an essential part of human nature. The way of flirting changes among the European countries, whereas the Germans seem to be a bit colder and distant, the British surprise us with their strange humour, the true ladies man of southern Europe seduce their possible couples with compliments and spontaneity. The perfect time to flirt is clearly during the holidays. One of the hottest cities in the world is undoubtedly Seville. The Andalusian capital will captivate you with so much beauty, culture and especially with so many beautiful and friendly Andalusian women and men.

If you want to live new experiences and learn how the Spaniards flirt, go to Andalusia! Rent the best apartments in Seville and enjoy an unforgettable stay full of adventure and passion. Who knows, maybe you find your soul mate….

Lady Gaga or Mister Gaga - that is the question | The Word Monster

From Lady Gaga to Mister Gaga – The singer is a hermaphrodite!

Lady Gaga does not stop surprising us with her polemic statements. So what has been the latest bombshell? The singer has confessed she is a hermaphrodite! After declaring her bisexuality, she has confirmed on her website that she has both male and female sexual organs.

The rumours spread three weeks ago, when in the Glastonbury Open Air Festival a mysterious shape appeared between her legs under a tiny dress that exposed her “little willy”.

The pop star, instead of denying it, has declared: “It’s not something I’m ashamed of; I just don’t go around telling everyone. I have both male and female genitalia, but I consider myself female. It’s just a little bit of a penis and doesn’t interfere much with my life. The reason I haven’t talked about it is that it’s not a big deal to me. Like come on. It’s not like we all go around talking about our vags”. In addition, she did not hesitate to say that having both genitals together with her bisexuality, greatly enriched her sexual life.

Once again, Lady Gaga is surrounded by controversy. Some people think that this is just a ploy by the singer to gain attention and increase her popularity, while others show their full support to her. Is Lady Gaga a real hermaphrodite?

Posted by milanblogger | milan | Friday 14 August 2009 10:28 am

While the city of Milan, the second largest city in Italy and the centre of the Italian economy is not as beautiful as Rome, it does have the largest gay community across the country. Milan is the capital of the gay community par excellence and it is one of the coolest cities in the whole of Europe. Thus, countless gay, lesbian, bisexual or transgender people spend their holidays in this city that offers lots of fun, culture and love.

billy-club-milano-flyer

Milan, home of international fashion, enjoys part of its great success thanks to their gay customers. Although the major fashion designers try to avoid portraying a certain image of “gay lifestyle”, they include consciously gay issues in their collections to gain more popularity. Apparently what they call “sophisticated” is nothing else than “gay.” In the fashion Mecca there is the famous fashion triangle formed by Via Montenapoleone, Via Spiga and Via Gesu, where you can immerse yourself in the fascinating world of design: Gucci, Prada and Dolce & Gabbana to name a few.

However, Milan offers much more than fashion and expensive clothes. Countless gay clubs, bars and restaurants for all tastes and wallets are waiting for you! You’ll also find saunas, sex shops, sex clubs and gay-friendly hotels and apartments that will make your daily life quite exciting. In addition there are many tourist agencies that organize trips and excursions to special places for gay people. As you can see, both gays and lesbians will have a great time in this country.

Milan hides true treasures in the gay scene. Among the classic bars you’ll also find; The Afterline bar, Company and Ricci, while Binario Uno and Billy represent the most fashionable clubs of this cosmopolitan city. Those who prefer more the Trans night should have a look at the famous New Idea. If you prefer to spend a whole day in one of the Milanese hot saunas, go to Royal Hammam, where you’ll meet the most handsome guys around the world. Metro, Alexanders and Thermas saunas are the oldest in the city so they are used to having an older clientele. The cruising enthusiasts will find their paradise in the Crusing Canyon establishment and in the beautiful “Fossa dei Leoni” park, which is near the Stazione Cadorna. The river “Fiume Ticino” is another place to do cruising and it’s also a nudist point.

Milan for girls does not enjoy the same offerings as guys have but this does not mean that the lesbian scene is not caterd for. Lesbian nights at Sotto Giallo and Recycle bar are very popular and offer lots of fun and many beautiful girls to flirt. The Cicip and Ciciap restaurant are also very popular among the lesbian population.

The Gay Community is also very well represented in the media. There are two monthly magazines, “Pride Magazine” and “Babylon magazine” and the famous “Chiquito Gay Guide Italia“. The Babel library is the perfect place for intellectual lesbians and gays. Also, spectacular events are held each year waiting for its gay audience, such as the gay film festival and the Italian Gay Open Tennis.

Chelsea Clinton marriage proposal | The Word Monster

Man Offers 40 Goats and 20 Cows for Chelsea Clinton’s Hand In Marriage

This is not the first time that Godwin Kipkemoi Chepkurgor, the president of Kenya, offers a dowry of 40 goats and 20 cows for Chelsea Clinton’s hand in marriage. Chepkurgor, who now is 39 years old, had already submitted the same offer to the Clinton family in 2000, but unfortunately they had to decline it. But only a few years ago the guy tried it again… Why doesn’t he give up so easily?

chelsea-clinton

The offer was exactly the same: 40 goats and 20 cows for the hand of Chelsea Clinton. In these times of crisis, the poor man can’t offer any more! If the first time the offer remained in the air, this time Chelsea’s mother has said that her daughter is free to decide what to do, and that only she will make the final decision. And what will happen if he adds a hen to the offer? Will it be the wedding of the year?

Since his first petition, nine years ago, Chepkurgor has not lost any time because in 2006 he got married to Grace, a classmate. However, he is still in love with Clinton and he wants to marry her, because in Africa polygamy is allowed and his wife agrees with the idea. It seems that the ‘would be’ suitor will not be intimidated and he will continue in his quest for the hand of Chelsea Clinton.

What will happen? Will he be able to get Chelsea’s hand in marriage? We hope that the response of the young Clinton comes as soon as possible!

Grand Prix of Europe - Valencia 2009 | Valencia Blog

Valencia Grand Prix 2009 – Grand Prix of Europe

The Grand Prix of Europe which takes place on 23rd August in Valencia, Spain looks set to be a thrilling race. Jensen Button, the current leader in the championship has said that his Brawn will be better in Valencia and that he hopes to put behind him the last few races where his car has failed to perform well.

valencia-gp-circuit

Felipe Massa seems to be recovering from the terrible accident he suffered at the Hungary circuit last month when a coil came off the back of Ruben Barichello’s car and hit Massa. He underwent a life saving operation in Hungary and he’s just been discharged from hospital and is now in Brazil making a full recovery.

Meanwhile, Michael Schumacher is preparing his return to racing a Formula 1 car and the ex world champion will stand in for Felipe Massa until the Brazilian makes a full recovery. Michael Schumacher has already been seen testing an F2007 at Mugello in Italy but looks like any testing of Felipe Massa’s car is out of the question due to a few teams boycotting any testing by Schumacher. Apparently Ferrari asked the other teams if they wouldn’t mind and they all said ‘no’.

Schumi’ has also undergone a special fitness programme to get him fit for F1 racing but it appears that much preparation won’t be necessary as he is an extremely fit person. Sources say that since his retirement in 2006 his race fitness level hasn’t really dropped as he’s kept up the same fitness regime as always. He will still have to pass a medical exam in order to race though.

Brazilian Nelson Piquet junior has been sacked by Team Renault and we can only assume that this has been because of his not very brilliant performance behind the wheel of an F1 car this season.

Valencia’s street circuit will be full of thrills without a doubt and there will be a full crowd waiting to see if Jensen Button can continue with his success with the Brawn car. Fernando Alonso’s fans will be waiting patiently to see if there’s a chance that the double world champion will race and others, if not the majority will look forward to seeing Michael Schumacher’s return to Formula One racing. If he manages to get into the top 10 I’m sure many of his fans will be pleased.

The Valencia Grand Prix 2009 will take place on August 23rd. Why not make it extra special and rent apartments in Valencia. You are guaranteed a thrilling race!

The Palais de Tokyo Paris | Urban Culture in Paris | Apartments Blog

“Give me a wall so I can escape”, those words painted on the relics of the Berlin Wall became the founding sentence of graffiti as a means of expression. Urban nuisance or visual art? One sure thing, those new forms of art are blending in and are becoming part of a global culture to such an extent that famous institutions devote them exhibitions and shows. The Palais de Tokyo in Paris always claimed it’s avant-garde and offers young artists a 40m long wall called « L’Espace Graff ».

palais-de-tokyo-paris

Maxim D Flickr

The Palais de Tokyo is an art centre devoted since the very beginning of its creation to helping the audience get closer to the best of national and international contemporary creations. The art centre is open form noon until midnight and offers a real life experience. You’ll see conceptual art and surprising exhibitions that present art in a contemporary way. The centre hosts a laboratory for young artists to come and explore plastic creation. It’s a place for experimentation and freedom.

An exhibition called “Katharina Grosse, from Color field to Graffiti” was one of the many events organized by the museum; this art show invited the public to follow the artist’s conversion to urban art in a similar way that Picasso left classic painting for cubism. Such exhibitions a rare and graffiti is above all a street art so keep your eyes open for free urban art in train stations or city walls.

Urban art is quite trendy in 2009: TAG, an exhibition at the Grand Palais was so successful it was extended! Prestigious talents such as Dalek, and Mike Giant created a unique exhibition. Born in NYC, Dalek is a graffiti artist inspired by such diverse themes such as women and cranes. JonOne also had his own exhibition at Magda Danysz gallery for 3 weeks. And you’ll see lots of interesting street art forms at the Alexis Lartigue art gallery.

Come check out some new urban art in the French capital. For too long graffiti has been associated with delinquency, today, it is accepted as a form of art. Rent some of the best apartments in Paris and enjoy this living art that you’ll see from the street to the scene.

Venetian Food | Venetian cuisine | Venice blog

Delicious Venetian Food

August 11, 2009 By: venice-apartments Category: Venice

Venice has so many strong points that we have never heard much about its gastronomy: we all know its romantic canals, its elegant carnival or the famous St Mark’s Square, but what about its gastronomy? Venetian food could be described with three words: varied, traditional and delicious. Most dishes are prepared with fish, meat and vegetables, but we can not forget that the Italian main dish is pasta.

cicchetti-venice

It’s true that eating out can be expensive in Venice, but you can also eat out at a good price if you know how and where: avoid the central areas (close to the Piazza San Marco and the Rialto Bridge) and you’ll surely find a place with more personal attention with authentic and cheap food. Avoid the tourist menus, which often do not include drinks or desserts as that usually inflates the bill. The best solution is to eat in the trattorias, “the younger brothers” of the restaurants that are cheap but very good. Another alternative is to eat portions of pizza, which are sold on street stalls for a more reasonable price.

One of the most famous dishes is “Cicchetti” which is a kind of “tapas” similar to those eaten in Spain. Among the most common there are: meatballs, fried vegetables, hard-boiled eggs with anchovies, fried crab, small octopus with polenta, sobrasada sausage with polenta, dried tomatoes, toast with cod and the famous sardines with pickled onions and vinegar. They are usually accompanied by a glass of wine.

Besides the “Cicchetti” the Venetian cuisine offers delicious specialties such as risottos made with lobster, cuttlefish, fish and rice. But the most appreciated risotto is the “Risi e Bisi”, rice with peas and ham. All kind of pasta, such as spaghetti with clams or sepia ink, the “bigoli in salsa (fat spaghetti) with anchovies and onions and the famous” Pasta e Fagioli (beans), are also very traditional. Fish is another Venetian specialty: St. Peter’s fish, eels and the monkfish dishes are very common. If you prefer meat, the Venetian liver is the best option, stew with lots of onion.

Among the most common beverages there is the wine, as this is a wine producing country. The most important wineries are: the Cantina de Vino già Schiavi in el Ponte of San Trovaso and Do Mori in Rialto. Among the red wines the most famous are: the Prosecco and the Valpolicella; among the white wines, the Custoza al Amarone. You must also try the Bassano Grapa or the “sgroppino” (Prosecco and lemon sorbet).

If you are still hungry and feel like dessert, you should know that Venice is famous for its “patisserie”: cakes, ice cream and candy masses. The superb tiramisu, the “zaeti” (biscuits prepared with polenta flour and raisins) or bussola buranelli (butter cookies shaped like a screw) are emblematic Venetian desserts.

Now that you know what to eat and where to go, you just have to worry about accommodation. The cheapest alternative is to rent Apartments in Venice. You’ll enjoy the best comfortable apartments at an affordable price.
