Fado: the sad, melancolic song | Lisbon Blog

Fado: the sad, melancolic song

Fado is more alive than ever. A new generation of artists joins to the mythic voices of its early times. Fado music is the heart of the Portuguese soul. The essential element of fado music is “saudade,” a Portuguese word that means longing. It is a sad music that sings to the destiny, to the death, to the betrayal love, to the despair and to the melancholy.

Mariza Fado

The origin of this popular music goes back to the 19th century and arises among the low classes and marginal neighbourhoods. Fado was the earthy music of taverns and brothels and street corners in Alfama and Mouraria, the old poor sections of Lisbon. Later, these songs proceeding from the suburbs, became fashionable among the aristocratic class, which introduced its verses in their lives as an eccentricity of ordinary people. Like other forms of folk music such as Argentine tango, American blues or Spanish flamenco, fado cannot be explained; it must be felt and experienced. Fado can be performed by men or women. A `fadista´ or fado singer communicates through gesture and facial expressions. The hands move, the body is stationary.

This music reached its golden times in the first half of the 20th century, when the Portuguese dictatorship of Salazar forced the fado performers to become professional and confined them to sing in the fado houses. Nowadays, it is protected by official institutions and cultivated as tourist spectacle.

The unrivalled queen of the fado was Amalia Rodrigues, worshipped at home and celebrated abroad as the most famous representative of Portuguese culture. Other great names of fado music were Carlos Ramos, Alfredo Marceneiro, Berta Cardoso, Maria Teresa de Noronha, Hermínia Silva, Fernando Farinha, Fernando Maurício, Lucília do Carmo or Manuel de Almeida.
Nowadays, Cristina Branco and Mariza walk the fine line between carrying on the tradition and trying to bring in a new audience.
If you travel to Lisbon, don´t forget to go to a fado spectacle. There are some restaurants where you can have dinner listening to beautiful fados. The best fado houses are located in the quarters of Alfama, Mouraria, Bairro Alto and Madragoa. Find the best apartments in Lisbon and enjoy the best accommodation way.

red bull air race barcelona

On 3rd and 4th October the Catalan capital will host once again the World Cup Competition of the Red Bull Air Race. This is an unprecedented event in the field of the aerobatic aircraft sport that combines speed with acrobatics with sports planes.

This is not an event for the faint hearted, as these winged meteors can exceed 400 km / h. After various tests in Abu Dhabi (United Arab Emirates), San Diego (USA), Ontario (Canada), Porto (Portugal) and Budapest (Hungary), Barcelona will be the final leg of the championship that has seen some spectacular competition. In May 2006 this competition attracted over 1,300,000 visitors to Barcelona, where the beaches were filled with people who wanted to see the antics and acrobatics of these planes.

The Red Bull Air Racing was founded in 2003 as a new discipline of aeronautical sports. Unlike the famous Reno Air Race, that hosts a speed competition of World War II airplanes, this new event requires more precision, skill and acrobatics. The competition consists of a route that the pilots have to complete with their aerobatic aircraft such as the Extra 300, MXS or Zivko Edge 540. Thus, they must pass through a series of inflatable pylons, known as gates, two of which are placed on the sea. If the pilot goes through a gate too low or high, he will be penalized. The pilot who completes the route in the less time and with less penalties, will win the desired award.

This year you will enjoy a stunning race between the British pilot Paul Bonhomme, who has won 55 points, and the Austrian Hannes Arch, who now has 51 points. The championship battle is still undecided. You will witness a clash that will give you goose bumps. In addition, you will enjoy a fantastic atmosphere, where thousands of fans will be cheering on their favorite pilots. Do you dare?

The Red Bull Air Race World Series is the perfect opportunity to combine an incredible event with an unforgettable holiday in one of the most charming cities in Europe. Rent the best apartments in Barcelona and enjoy comfortable and cheap accommodation.

The floating therapy is a great way to relieve stress and its consequences. When we drive our body to the limit it suffers and it launches unequivocal signs from which it needs a respite: severe headaches, hair loss, insomnia, etc. Now imagine a huge rectangular bath of about 2.5 m long and 1.6 m wide where 90% of the signals that are sent to the nervous system are excluded. In the bath the person floats and receives no sensory input from the outside: there is no light, no noise, you do not feel cold or heat – because the water temperature is 36 ° C, the same as your body’s temperature. In addition, you will float effortlessly thanks to the 300 kilos of Epsom salts (magnesium sulphate) that the water contains, as in the Dead Sea. Thus, for an hour you just have to relax, close your eyes, float and enjoy. People say that the feeling is similar to that of a fetus in the womb. The floating provides a state of deep relaxation, fostering an ideal meditation atmosphere, improves insomnia, depression, anxiety, pain, PMS, jet lag, fatigue, chronic pain, migraines , backaches, arthritis …

If you don’t like water very much, there are alternative natural therapies that you’ll love. Are you a fan of chocolate? If so you’ll go crazy with the Chocolate Massage Therapy! Besides being a simple delicacy of which everybody adores, chocolate has turned into a great beauty ally. The effects of Chocolate Therapy are very beneficial for both health and body as it has slimming, detoxifying and firming properties. It is one of the top demands in any spa centre, and it is not surprising, because in addition to those properties already mentioned, chocolate has energizing properties that stimulate our good mood. Cocoa provides antioxidants for the skin and attacks free radicals, so it combats the signs of fatigue, aging and cellulite.

But these are not the only natural treatments that exist. Today, beauty centres and spas offer so many alternatives to the client that it is difficult to choose just one: phytotherapy, aromatherapy, Bach flowers, the list is endless. The big capitals are the cities where there are more demand for these treatments because of its fast-paced rhythm. Rent apartments in Madrid and discover the benefits of floating or a Chocolate Massage Therapy. You’ll want to repeat it for sure!

Budapest Underground | Budapest Blog

Budapest’s Underground

Often called the « Pearl of the Danube », Budapest has been Hungary’s capital since 1867. The city was created in 896 and has become over the years an important hub in Central Europe.

Budapest Underground

Since 1896 Budapest has its own underground network. It’s the second underground to have been built in Europe (the first was London’s). The project took place at the time of the Millennium events that were designed to celebrate the creation of the city. The Budapest underground was then named « Millenium » (Millenniumi Földalatti Vasút - M1).

It is one of the various public transportations offered by the city: tramways, funiculars and suburban trains. The network is 33 km long and has a total of 42 stations, 3 of which are above ground. Deák Ferenc tér is the only station to offer a connection: all lines cross there, in the very heart of the city.

In 1893, the Electric Tramway Society of Budapest (in Hungarian, Budapesti Városi Villamosvasút, abrégé BVVV) and the Hippo mobile Transport Society of Budapest (in hungarian Budai Közúti Vaspálya Társasághoz, abrégé BKVT) studied the possible installation of a tramway on the famous Andrássy Avenue, but the project failed. Mór Balázs (director of the BVVV) suggested building an underground tramway based on the idea of Siemens & Halske. On May 2nd 1896, the first 3.68 km of railway track were inaugurated. Soon enough this line was given the nickname ‘railroad underground’ because it was only 3 metres under the surface!

The official name is Földalatti (in hungarian föld means ground, and alatt means under) based on London’s network called the London Underground. The first part of the modern underground was opened to the public in 1970; 250,000 passengers would use it every day.

Nowadays, the Budapest underground is made up of 3 lines and a 4th one should open in 2010. M1 is the oldest line. It is associated with the colour yellow and offers the users a journey through history in the heart of the city. The other lines are newer and though they are more convenient (elevators…) they lack the old-fashion charm of M1. Most trains are now modern constructions but back in the days, they were made of wood. The stations copied Russian style with their marble-like stone walls.

Come and see for yourself one of the oldest underground train systems of Europe! Discover a century of History riding on the Hungarian metro. Rent the best apartments in Budapest and have a wonderful time between History and modernity.

Nightlife in Málaga

September 21, 2009 By: malaga Category: Malaga

Have you ever been to Andalusia? It’s a region full of passion, emotion, love and good vibrations where you can enjoy a lot of entertainment along with an old and traditional culture. One of the most beautiful Andalusian cities is without a doubt Málaga, a nice historical city where there’s always a lot going on there in summer as well as in winter. Málaga is the perfect example for some of the best nightlife in Spain. Staying out until late in the bars, eating the famous tapas (appetizers of delicious Spanish food) on the romantic terraces or having some drinks in bars is all part of the very deep-rooted tradition in Málaga like flamenco (famous gipsy dance in that region) does in Andalusia.

malaga-nightlife
The whole city is full of tapas-bars where you can spend your time until late. Probably you’ll find it strange, but as well as during the night you can see kids playing around there in the bars: in Málaga just about everyone turns into a night person. The city offers you numerous discotheques and night clubs, like for example the famous discoteca Anden, discoteca Kiu, discoteca Latina, etc. It’s your choice where you go. It just depends on your taste in music and which ambience do you want to discover.

The area where you can find the main nightlife are the districts El Palo, La Malagueta, el Pedragalejo, etc. El Palo was the old fishing village, but throughout history it has been slowly but completely transformed. Now there is a long seaside promenade with a lot of restaurants, bars, typical Mediterranean terraces and an amazing sea view. The weather is always mild and pleasant which creates an enchanting atmosphere perfect for spending some lovely days there.

Malageta is a modern district where you can find huge buildings, shopping centres and fashionable stores. It’s the area with the most people partying from one bar to another accompanied by ice cold sangria and hot music. Besides, you will be surprised by the famous Marisquerías (seafood restaurants and bars) which are the contrast to all the modern fashion clubs there.

Pedragalejo is another district of the main part of Malaga’s nightlife. Apart from the delicious dishes and wines, you can choose between the most incredible clubs of the city. Lots of party people, shows and live concerts are waiting for you. Rent the best apartments in Malaga and discover one of the most beautiful cities in Andalusia.

Venetian Nights | Venice blog

The Venetian Nights

September 18, 2009 By: venice-apartments Category: Venice

The Venetian night was once one of the most famous in Europe. Although today it can not boast of a rich and lively nightlife, the fact that it can boast about being one of the most charming cities in the world far outweighs this. In return and to cover the shortage of bars and nightclubs there are often held recreational or cultural events. Besides the famous events such as Carnival, the Biennale or the Venetian Film Festival, Venice is a city with a great tradition of classical music and where concerts are held constantly.

Venice nights

This is an expensive city, so the young people move to the outskirts. Hence, the nightlife also moves searching younger population centres. Usually, the Venetians prefer to go for a walk and have a snack (a glass of cold prosecco, which is a type of local white wine) at sunset along the Riva degli Schivoni. With this purpose, the eternally fashionable bars are located in the famous Piazza San Marco. For those who prefer a more bohemian and cheaper atmosphere the Cannaregio and San Polo areas are the perfect ones, and which are also preferred by students.

If you are looking for clubs, you better go to the Mestre area, the student city of Padua or the Lido Island, where many Hollywood artists spend their summer vacations. But if you prefer to stay in Venice, the best option is the Disco Club Piccolo Mondo, where the best house for only 8 euros is played. Another popular establishment is the Casanova Disco Club, where you can dance to the rhythm of the catchiest Latin rhythms.

Furthermore, the pubs and restaurants that remain open until late are concentrated in the Cannaregio and Dorsoduro areas. The Campo Santa Margherita area has become very fashionable amongst the young people too. You should not miss Harry’s Bar, which despite its high prices, is famous for preparing the best Bellinis of the city (a typical cocktail made of prosecco, peach and tangerine juice).

And for the bravest, there’s always the famous Casino of Venice, located inside the Palazzo Vendramin-Calergi, (on the Grand Canal) during the winter and in Palazzo del Casino, (in Lido) in summer.

Who said that in Venice you can not go out at night? You simply have to choose the perfect time and place and the city is pure entertainment and fun! Rent Apartments in Venice for a cheap stay.

cannabis and tolerance | Apartments Blog

We know that using cannabis for therapeutically and even recreational purposes is as old as history itself. During the golden age of medieval Islamic civilization Arab physicians found diuretic, antiemetic, antiepileptic, anti-inflammatory, analgesic and antipyretic properties of cannabis. Cannabis Sativa has been especially widely used as medicine from VIII to XVIII centuries. We know too that many shamans and sorcerers from many civilizations used and still use cannabis in order to come into contact with other dimensions, other worlds, different knowledge, different ways of thinking to which it was impossible to access in a normal state.

Increasingly, scientific research studies have demonstrated the beneficial effects of using cannabis in the treatment of certain diseases and conditions. Cannabis, because of its illegal drug status, is not tolerated in the same way in each country or society. There are countries with very harsh laws against cannabis and others where the contrary happens. Some tolerance is quite normal.

The problem resulting from this situation is that in order to conduct any research regarding the effects of cannabis, it is necessary that researchers can easily obtain cannabis. Otherwise, investigations take longer, cost more money or simply can not be as profound as they might and they may end suddenly, without reaching any interesting result.

Another noteworthy point comes from the current way of getting cannabis, bearing in mind that it is not regulated. The dosage of the various tetrahydrocannabinols (which is the active chemical in cannabis, or marijuana) in the plants varies widely depending of the way cannabis is created and processed. Spanish researchers and politicians work hand in hand to find a way to regulate cannabis and thus facilitate their investigations.

In Spain, especially Catalonia, a number of actions have been directed over the last fifteen years to facilitate the supply and use of cannabis for therapeutic and medical research. If you want to feel what it is like to live in a tolerant city and a pioneer in giving a cleaner image to the use of cannabis, come to the Catalan capital and spend a wonderful holiday renting apartments in Barcelona.

Having Sex: The Best Medicine for the Health

Posted by milanblogger | milan | Thursday 17 September 2009 11:31 am

Attention, people! What we have always suspected is finally scientifically proven: practising sex is the best medicine for our health. Now we have another reason to enjoy more our sexual activities, because sex preserves both our physical and mental health.

sex and health

The experts looked at the 90’s and discovered a relationship between hormones, the nervous system and sex. They investigated how the hormones react between the nervous system and sex. A long time ago they concluded that dopamine, norepinephrine and serotonin are neurotransmitters involved in the reaching of orgasm. The principal hormone to obtain the sensation of relaxation and of well-being is, without any doubt, the endorphin. Now then, these conclusions encouraged the scientists to continue investigating the effects that the sex produces in the human organism. The results will amaze you!

The first curiosity is that there is almost no difference between having sex alone or with company, because the satisfaction is the same in both cases. This fact is proved by the blood investigations. A person who just has had sex with his partner has the same blood composition as a person who has masturbated. A team of university experts in the USA has studied the relationship between sex and disease resistance. And again it has been proven that having sex is good for the health.

All aspects of sex such as desire, practising it, orgasm and relaxation produce in the human body countless biological advantages. If you practice sex at least twice a week – no matter if alone or not, the levels of immunoglobulin (proteins that protect the body from infection) increase by 30% according to scientific studies. This way, you enjoy a greater resistance to diseases and the wounds also heal faster.

Besides health factors, sex, or rather the chemical reactions that it produces, favour longevity. Sex cures depression, anxiety and increases the muscle and heart tone. We no longer need to go to the doctor or the pharmacy: intense moments in bed can be much more effective!

This time the experts have revealed positive news. We all know that the best opportunity to take advantage of our sexual feelings away from the stresses of everyday life is by going on holiday. Why don’t you spend a few relaxing and erotic days in one of the most charming cities in Italy? Rent apartments in Milan to enjoy a quiet, comfortable, romantic and above all cheap stay.

The stripers are the most desirable girls of the earth. Since the first nudes appeared in France in the late nineteenth century with the arrival of the New-Burlesque, striptease is part of our culture. At that time, a libertine and challenging city of Paris turned the music hall industry into the most acclaimed spectacle, until the famous “sexual revolution” appeared in the 60s, normalizing the total nude among the whole society.

Still, stip-tease dancers have always lived surrounded by an aura of sensuality and eroticism. Precisely they are devoted to the provocation. Each of her contortions are thought to excite the public and they makes use of elements such as dance bars, chairs, special costumes, etc.

Mata Hari was one of the first recognized erotic dancers. In Paris she became a real diva of stip-tease. She became so famous that people paid astronomical amounts of money to get seats in the front rows to see her show.

The strip-tease history has been closely linked to the cabarets, especially in Paris. Establishments such as the Moulin Rouge, the Crazy Horse, the Folies-Bergère or the Le Chat Noir have been the cradles of the striptease and they have seen grow the biggest stars of the genre. Currently, the Crazy Horse is still a lively cabaret and among its shows there are the hottest strip-teases in the world: important divas as Dita Von Teese, Carmen Electra, Arielle Dombasle or Philippe Decouflé have danced in the Crazy Horse. The Moulin Rouge was one of the first cabarets that offered strip-teases among its shows.

The cinema has also echoed some of the most notorious strip-tease in the history. Sophia Loren gave us one of the highlights of her career when she stripped for Yesterday, Today and Tomorrow (1963). Thanks to this strip-tease Vittorio De Sica won the Oscar for best foreign film, and Sophia became one of the greatest erotic myths of all time. Another notorious strip-tease of the cinema was that of Jane Fonda in Barbarella (1968), when she takes her space suit and stands completely naked with zero gravity. Kim Basinger became the undisputed queen of strip-tease after acting for Nine ½ Weeks (1986). Since its release, the Joe Cocker song has become the ideal soundtrack for any strip-tease worldwide. Demi Moore acted in Striptease (1996) and her nude has been very sounded in the film industry. Another great strip-tease was that of Paz Vega in Lucia and the Sex (2001).

Madrid lives on the streets-- Blog about Madrid

Madrid lives on the streets

Madrid’s streets are teeming with life. The bustle and chaos take over the entire city. Madrid lives in the squares, in the parks, on the subways, in the streets… They have no shame: they are the professionals who live thanks to the money of the humble passerby… And what are their jobs? They are musicians, painters, actors, dancers, etc. Anything is ok if it is done on the street! They are street artists.

Madrid street artists

The street musicians are one of the most acclaimed outdoors artists. With their music they entertain the people on subway stations, squares and streets. Like everywhere, there are good, bad and regular musicians and nothing has to do with the fact that he’s a street artist. Maybe the best music in Madrid is not on sale on the shelves of a department store, but in a corner of the Retiro Park.

The street painters are one of the most beloved and oldest professions in the capital. The Retiro Park and the Plaza Mayor are two of the places where these artists paint the world in black and white with their pencils… Their cartoons and landscapes are not as valuable as a Kandinsky, but they are much deeper and heartfelt. Their canvases emanate pure life and humanization.

Some people think that interpretation and the street do not go hand in hand. But one of the street performances that arouse more wonder and expectation are the mimes. Everybody is captivated by the amazing skills of those human statues, which often seem to be made of stone.

Some of the latest trends on the street are break dance and hip-hop dancers. They take over the streets of the capital and execute incredible pirouettes under the watchful eye of a very devoted audience.

All these forms of street art take place every day in Madrid: mimes, musicians, painters and dancers etc. without a shadow of a doubt the street artists revalue the public spaces and enrich the cultural patrimony of the cities. Rent Apartments in Madrid and enjoy its rich street art.

The Gypsies and the Passional Flamenco

Posted by seville | seville | Monday 14 September 2009 4:01 pm

Flamenco music is probably the only musical genre that best represents past history in a musical form when words were the vehicle to a culture’s survival along with the tradition of its people. In fact, it is precisely through the music and the songs of the nomads and the gypsies that during their migration throughout the Middle East and the Mediterranean it has been possible to both enrich their culture and leave a trace. In this way, their music has a universal character which is uncommon in other genres.

spanish gypsy

These people, the gypsies, have a long tradition and were banished from their homeland, - Pakistan. From that moment – due to a series of conflicts, they began their nomadic life traveling throughout the world. They have passed through Egypt, the Czech Republic and Slovakia, until in the fifteenth century three stable groups were formed in the Balkans, Italy, France and Spain, where they have become sedentary.

It was in Andalusia, the Spanish region with a multiethnic secular tradition, where the gypsy race found the most suitable land for their integration. Here the Gypsies have adapted to the culture of the new territory, changed their names to Latin names, and mingled with the Spanish language to integrate into society. This process was very hard, difficult and lasted for many centuries.

At this stage, the gypsy culture and music mixed with the Arabic and Hebrew culture. The music therefore, became a vehicle of hidden rebellion. The singers were invited to the aristocrat’s halls as “troubadours” and they denounced the oppression to which they were subjected to in their own Caló texts. This was the period when Flamenco music was full of feelings, especially those of sadness and pride.

Over the time, both the flamenco and the Gypsy culture have spread, taking different forms. In recent years, the flamenco stylistic trends have tended to focus on the upper body (head and arms). But while the female dances are more tied to the upper body, masculine performances are mainly based on shoe movements.

A key figure in flamenco has been Paco de Lucia, who revolutionized the art of flamenco guitar, making it the primary tool of this genre. From 1955 there arose the “Andalusian gipsy Renaissance “, a movement headed by Antonio Mairena, with the aim of spreading the orthodoxy of the Andalusian Flamenco. In this time the ‘tablaos’ appeared on the local scene ; the raised wooden platforms where the artists give their performances.

The most famous gypsy singers are: Camarón, El Rellenor, Tomás el Nitro, Manuel Torre, Tomás Pavón, etc… But there are some well-known Andalusian singers: Silverio Franconetti (Andalusian gypsy song creator) and Antonio Chacón.

Flamenco is music, drama, emotion and history and it would be a mistake to place it in just one of these categories. Its characteristics are representative of its race, the Gypsy race, a people with a long history who have verbally transmited its legacy. Would you like to know the beautiful story of the origins of flamenco and the gypsy race? Rent the best apartments in Seville, and enjoy a show like no other, full of culture, history and passion.

What happens when a couple packs for holidays?

Posted by paris | paris | Monday 14 September 2009 10:43 am

Honey, did you put the sunscreen in the suitcase and the soft tissues to wipe your brow, and the hair dryer? I guess you’ve also taken the 5 sleep shirts I bought you with all my love…

The list of questions seems endless. Sure you can imagine the situation: her attitude sets his nerves on edge, telling him what to wear and as devastating as a hurricane she rummages through her closet looking for the perfect holiday  luggage. He tries to ignore her for weeks, but now is the critical moment: he sits quietly on the bed surrounded by a pile of clothes and bags. And again we find the typical difference between women and men at the moment of packing: men take what they need, and women all they have.

woman-packing

Don’t worry so much about travelling with your mate! It will surely be a wonderful experience if you try to understand your girlfriend or boyfriend. When packing, men and women are completely different. It seems a very normal thing in human nature.

According to representative surveys, women need 44% additional time to prepare the things they need to take and 26% more time to pack. While women spend more than a week doing some preparations, men do them in just one day. It seems that the men do not worry so much for leaving an important thing at home when they go on holidays, since 32 % pack without having elaborated a previous list, but more with the pure intuition. Then, women need 3.39 hours because females are usually more careful with their clothes, while men usually think: “this shirt will wrinkle anyhow when I go to the beach”.

Regarding your holiday luggage contents, we all know all these topics which have also been demonstrated in several studies. On average, most women carry more than 50 garments for a two weeks trip, while men limit themselves to just 20. Women fill their bags with countless sets of trousers, jackets, skirts, thousands of bikinis, blouses, shoes, stockings, not to mention the countless personal toiletries, makeup, hair iron… Quite the opposite of men’s bags, which take the necessary: one pair of trousers, three or four shirts, a swimsuit, some underwear, not forgetting the iPod and the digital camera!

Anyway, everybody has the right to take all they want and at the end of it, it’s the poor men who have to carry the heavy baggage of their women.

Although while you’re packing you can have a serious fight with your partner, don’t forget you’ll have a great time during the trip! Without a doubt, Paris is the city par excellence for an unforgettable, romantic and charming holiday! Rent Apartments in Paris: the best alternative for a cheap and comfortable accommodation with lots of space for the extra baggage!

Cosmetic Surgery Spain | Plastic Surgery Overseas | Apartments Blog

We live in a society obsessed with the perfect body. Every day we are bombarded through different media with images and slogans of perfect women and men, not coherent with the mundane reality. For better or worse, Spain holds the title of being the EU country where most cosmetic surgery operations are performed with 300,000 operations per year. This means that 882 people had cosmetic surgery every day last year in Spain.

cosmetic-surgery-in-spain

What woman has not  dreamed of having Angelina Jolie’s perfect body? And what man has not fantasized about having the incredible torso of Brad Pitt? Beauty is in fashion and beauty is defined by extreme thinness among girls and steel muscles among boys; adding the eternal youth in both sexes.

The society role model to follow is usually marked by the media with  famous people as perfect examples of beauty. With the new beauty ideal, the society in general, and the youth in particular, lives obsessed with the physical aspect, which supposes an enormous pressure which can cause complexes, insecurities and in the worst cases, depression.

Surveys reveal that only 26% of citizens are happy with their appearance. This is why many people choose to have surgery to correct what they don’t like with their bodies or faces. What before just a few people could afford, now it is within everybody’s reach thanks to the funding facilities offered by the clinics.

In fact, there are more and more children who require plastic surgery. Most of them seek rhinoplasty, breast implants, liposuction or otoplasty (ears correction). It’s very common that children demand a plastic surgery for Christmas or birthday presents and their parents consent it. Young people have no fear of the scalpel, but are afraid of being rejected by their environment and this is why they have plastic surgery although it does have some risks.

What seems clear is that the media and the advertising are the main culprits for the increased demand for cosmetic surgery in all sectors of society.

Although Spain is the  number one country in Europe and number three in the world (after USA and Brazil) as far as aesthetic operations are concerned, it has many other things to offer. Why not  find out for yourself by travelling to the Spanish capital. Sleep in Madrid Apartments and enjoy the best accommodation at a very affordable price.

Gay Rome

September 09, 2009 By: romeblogger Category: Rome

While it’s true to say that the Italian gay movement is still lethargic compared to their Western European neighbours, it is also true that it is slowly emerging despite the presence and influence of the Catholic Church. In recent years Rome has noticed an increasing tolerance toward the gay community. So much so, that in 2007 the first gay street was inaugurated in the city. Over time many new gay bars have opened, too.

The famous Roman “Gay street” is located in the central San Juan de Letrán street, near the Colosseum, and it supposed a great triumph for the gay community that had a new place where to meet together. Now hundreds of gays and lesbians spend their weekend nights in this famous “Gay Street”.

Other gay clubs or bars in the capital are: the L’Alibi (Via di Monte Testaccio, 40), a classic with over 40 years of history where the best house music is played; the Coming Out (Via San Giovanni in Luterano, 8); is a mixed bar with most pleasant atmosphere and where many events are held. The Hangar (Via in Selci 69) deserves a special mention because it was the first gay bar in the city. With an international and hot atmosphere, it appears in all the tourist guides of the city and is always full! The Max Bar (Via Achille Grande, 7) has a very varied public and from all ages; the Frutta e Verdura After Hour (Via Placido Zurla, 68) is the most popular gay club in Rome; finally, the Apeiron (Via dei Quattro Cantón, 5) is an exclusively men’s bar where men perform strip-tease. It is necessary to have an annual pass to get in.

But Rome hides many other attractions besides its gay life.
