Patrick Swayze Dies

Patrick Swayze the actor has died today at the age of 57 after a long battle with cancer of the pancreas. He was diagnosed with the disease in March 2008. Swayze conquered the world in 1987 with his dancing in the film Dirty Dancing which became his springboard to stardom. In 1990 he filmed Ghost with Demi Moore and became the perfect gentleman and pin-up of the 80’s and 90’s.

Swayze was very brave despite being diagnosed with the killer disease and didn’t want to interrupt his work schedule. He filmed the first season of The Beast after which he had to leave in order to receive treatment. He filmed 11 episodes of the series in which he played FBI agent Charles Barker.

The actor, choreographer, dancer and activist said that he was going through hell: “I’m afraid, upset and I ask Why Me”. He was given only two years to live and finally his fight came to an end after a year and a half.

Swayze was nominated 3 times for a Golden Globe award for Dirty Dancing, Ghost and Wong Foo (1995) in which he played the part of a transvestite along with Wesley Snipes and John Leguizamo. His illness coincided with one of the best moments in his career after making a recovery from his alcohol problems that haunted him for several years.

The actor’s publicist Annett Wolf informed the media that Patrick Swayze died peacefully and was accompanied by his family. He will be remembered in the hearts of everyone thanks to his memorable films.
