Although the summer has already left Germany, this charming and cosmopolitan city welcomes the romantic autumn with one of the most captivating festivals of the capital: Festival of lights 2009, a veritable lights symphony in Berlin.
Between 14th and 25th October he German capital will present its most luminous and impressive face. For two weeks, the Festival of Lights will turn Berlin into the most colourful, glamorous and elegant city in Europe. This way, the great historical importance monuments and buildings, such as the Brandenburger Tor (Brandenburg Gate), the Siegessäule (the Victory Column), the Fernsehturm (the TV tower), or the Berliner Dom (the Berlin Cathedral) will be special illuminated for the occasion. Apart from the symphony of lights, the Festival will offer wide range of cultural events such as concerts, exhibitions, museum nights, and many other activities related to the lights and special effects. But it is not necessary to walk all the day long to enjoy the colourful performances, since one of the festival strengths are the different bus tours (light-liner), ship trips (light-ship), velotaxi trips (light-veil), limousine trips (light-smooth) or “per pedes trips” (light-walking, Light X.Plorer or Lights Sightrunning). You’ll have a myriad of different possibilities to discover this amazing festival.
The festival not only provides light shows, but also a series of fascinating and entertaining events which include the Opening Ceremony, the open doors night, as well as the interesting photographic exhibition (CeWe Color) that will present amazing photos of the previous editions of the festival or even the Light Run Human Race, with a distance of 10km around the capital.
