Paris, The City of the Lovers

Paris is one of the most beautiful capitals of the Old Europe and one of the most romantic cities in the world. It is known as the "city of the lights", as it was the first world's city which has electric light. It is also known as the "city of the lovers", because it is full of romantic corners. In addition, it is one of the most tourist cities in the world: every year about 30 million tourists stroll among its streets. Paris is famous for it cultural and artistic value. It was the perfect refuge for bohemians and artists, and still today it is an icon of the free and avant-garde thoughts and currents. When you arrive to the Pont Au Double, you'll see Notre-Dame in front of you. From this very basilica the length in kilometres of all French roads are measured, which makes it one of the French capital's reference points.

The Eiffel Tower

The Eiffel Tower was built for the International Exhibition of Paris of 1889, commemorating the centenary of the French Revolution. It was not accepted by all at first, but nowadays it is the most representative symbol of Paris and one of the most famous monument in the world. At 300 metres (320.75m including antenna), and 7000 tons, it was the world's tallest building until 1930.

Valencia, The City of the Lights

Valencia is Spain's third largest city, after Madrid and Barcelona. It has one of the largest tourist influxes in Spain and it is famous all around the world because of Las Fallas festival. It has 470km of coastline with beautiful beaches and a nice Mediterranean climate throughout the year. In addition, it has always been a city full of art, leaving us the legacy of great artists such as Ribera, Sorolla, Calatrava or Marshal.

Every single corner in Valencia is charming, specially the famous El Carmen´s neighbourhood. El Carmen is the historic center of the city: in its streets the most Bohemian traditions are mixed with the last trends. For those who love partying, El Carmen neighbourhood is full of places to go: enjoy the Valencian night under the moonlight in one of its beautiful terraces, have a coffee at mid-afternoon surrounded by friends, satisfies your appetite in one of the delicious restaurants in the area or dance all the night in an avant-garde nightclub.

In summer the party moves to the Paseo Neptuno and the beaches areas.

We can not talk about holidays in Valencia without mentioning Las Fallas. They are one of the most famous, vibrant, quaint and noisy festivals in Spain. The fires, along with the fireworks and rockets take the streets by force as it were. The origins of the Fallas Festival goes back to an old tradition of the city's carpenters, who before the Festivity of their patron Saint Joseph, burned in front of their workshops on the streets , their useless things during the winter season. This is the reason why the night of the cremà (in which the Fallas monuments burn down) is always on March 19th, the Festivity of San José. For five days, castles, the monuments Falleros and the Mascletàs, mixed with the smell of gunpowder and sweet fragrances of flowers. Las Fallas are one of the most important and spectacular street festivals in the world that nobody should miss.

For the lovers of good food, Valencia is a paradise. The famous Paella comes from Valencia! The diners will not taste better rice in the world! Other traditional dishes are baked rice, "arroz a la banda" (with fish), black rice (with squid in its ink) and Fideuá (made with noodles). For a drink, taste "el agua de Valencia" (orange juice with champagne). And for dessert, drink a refreshing Horchata with fartons (biscuits).

"La Ciudad de las Artes y las Ciencias" is a must. It is the reference point to the cultural tourism: the music, the new technologies, the sciences, the ecology, the education, the cinema or the avant-garde art are some of the proposals we can find in this unique space. This incredible collection of buildings showcases Calatrava's exceptional ability to express what is inside a building through its exterior design. It 350.000 square metres surface have become it into the largest cultural Europe's center.

Are you going to miss all these wonders? They are all together in Valencia! Come on! Travel to Valencia, discover it, and fall in love with it. Take a look to these Apartments in Valencia to find the best accommodation in the city!

¡No te arrepentirás!

Barcelona by night

Do you know that Barcelona is the city with the highest number of bars, pubs and nightclubs in the world? With this tempting offer, who dares to stay at home? Barcelona's night is specially designed to so you can burn the dance floor.

Barcelona is one of the most fashionable cities for its cosmopolitan atmosphere and its beautiful people. There you can party every day, from Monday to Sunday. Every night, thousands of clubs fill with people that want to spend a good time listening to the best music. There are cheap bars, Irish pubs, the most fashionable places or huge discos. You can spend 10 € in the whole night or maybe 60 € in five minutes: in addition, there you'll find a wide musical offer. There are clubs with hip-hop music, others with electronic music, others with pop music, and others with rock...

You have to pay an entrance fee in a lot of clubs in Barcelona. The price ranges between 5€ and 20 €, including consumption. Many bars and pubs have free entry, but you have to pay between 5€ and 15€ for a drink. Spanish people go out very late. The bars begin to fill up around 12:00pm and the nightclubs are usually empty until 2:00pm. They are open until 6:00am, approximately. Then, the after hours are open until the lunch time.

It will take a lifetime to mention all the clubs in Barcelona, so take note of which are the best places to visit according to the day of the week:

MONDAY

Monday nights are usually dead in most cities of the world, but not in Barcelona. To find the best atmosphere you have to go to Shoko disco, a club that organizes incredible parties every Monday night with free champagne and Japanese cocktails until 0:30pm. There you'll find the best R&B and House music. During the day, Shoko is one of the best Japanese restaurants in the city. Bikini is a famous concert hall and nightclub in Barcelona. Every Wednesday night it celebrates the Black Music Bikini Party, with the best black music like Hip Hop, R&B and Funky. Address: Deu i Mata, 105 Metro: Les Corts o Maria Cristina, L3.

THURSDAY

Thursdays are known as "college night", because most students choose Thursday night as their favourite day to party. Almost all the Catalan clubs are open on Thursday, so you can choose many places to go. It is difficult to choose just one place for Thursday night, but we specially like Otto Zutz.

Otto Zutz is one of the oldest clubs in Barcelona and a landmark in the city. It is divided into three floors: on the first one, you can listen to the best house music. On the second one, you can listen to funky and hip hop music and on the third floor, you can listen to soul music and the most famous old tunes.

Barcelona With Children

Barcelona is one of the favourite Spanish destinations for travellers from the entire world. Even the children choose the city as their favourite one when they leave home. If you want to enjoy the best family holidays, a big city such as Barcelona has the widest leisure offer for parents and children. In addition, it enjoys an ideal climate all the year round, with soft temperatures in winter and warm temperatures in summer. Thus, the children can go to the parks and to the beaches throughout the four seasons.

Travelling with children is not a problem anymore. Quite the opposite! The children will not have time to get bored and the parents will enjoy the city with the whole family! In addition, Barcelona has beaches and mountains. What other reason do you need to bring your children to Barcelona? They will have a great time!

The best way to start the day is going to the Poble Espanyol, where the kids will have fun while they discover the streets and the squares of the whole of Spain. Poble Espanyol is a hall where some of the most beautiful buildings and monuments from around the Spanish country are reproduced. Its narrow streets also hide a whole world full of life: workshops, shops, museums, restaurants and even green spaces for playing!

After having a tour around the Spanish geography without leaving Barcelona, you should take your children to the Aquàrium. There you may stroll under a 80 metre glass tunnel to see the sharks. This Aquarium is one of the largest in the world: it holds 11,000 animals from 450 different marine species. Recently a section for Humboldt penguins has been open. In addition, the kids may play in Explora, an interactive leisure and educational space, with more than 50 interactivities to touch, look at, listen to, investigate and discover nature. We promise an unforgettable experience for children and adults!

And talking about animals... The next stop is the Zoo. Barcelona's Zoo is one of the oldest in Spain. It was inaugurated in 1940. Unfortunately, the big star of the zoo, Copito de Nieve (an albino gorilla unique in the world) died in 2004. But there are many other animals like the dolphins, the lions, the hippopotamus or the rhinoceros.

The Zoo is located in one of the most beautiful and charming parks in Barcelona, The Citadella. It is one of the largest lungs of the city and a must for everybody. Strolling among its avenues and gardens is a real pleasure. Inside the park, there is a lake where children can sail in a boat for only three Euros! In addition, you can visit the Geology and the Zoology Museums.

After a wonderful stroll around The Ciutadella Park, you should take your children to the Imax Cinema. This cinema is a large-format cinema located in the Port Vell. Projections take place on a 600 square meter screen. Special 3D glasses are used to feel like you are in another world: everything seems to be real!

Do you want your children to spend an entertained and educative afternoon? Then, take them to Cosmocaixa! Cosmocaixa is the Science Museum in Barcelona. Visitors are invited to interact with many of the scientific experiments, making the whole experience richer and more entertaining, particularly for children.

If you want to visit a few amusement parks in Catalunya with your kids you need at least a day. You can go to the Tibidabo Park, a beautiful and charming theme park, which has the best views of Barcelona city. Its attractions are open since the 19th century. On the other hand, you can go to Port Aventura. It´s located in Tarragona. You just need 90 minutes by car to go there. It is a theme park full of action-packed adventures from all corners of the globe: imperial China, the Far West, exotic Polynesia, Aztec México and the mellow Mediterrània.

The Camp Nou is a must too! The Camp Nou Tour is the best way to experience Barça from within. This tour takes you through the past and present of an emblematic stadium and the Barça Museum. Maybe your children can get an autograph of their favourite football players!
Finally, you and your children have to go to the Ramblas, the most famous street in Barcelona. It goes from Catalunya Square to the Columbus statue. Your kids will have a great time there looking at the newspaper kiosks, the flower and animal stalls, and all sorts of artists.

Travel to "la ciudad condal" with your children and rent Apartments in Barcelona.
It's cheaper than a hotel and you'll have more privacy and freedom and make feel your kids as if they were at home!

Shopping in Madrid

Like any other modern metropolis, Madrid has several shopping areas, department stores, shopping malls and local shops to choose from, dotted about the city. Madrid is the best city in Spain to go shopping because of it wide choice. Whatever you wish to buy, Madrid has everything spread around about 60,000 stores. Madrid shopping is so much special because there are so many different styles, prices and products to choose from.

The most exclusive boutiques, luxury jewellery stores, art galleries, craft shops and antique shops coexist with leader shops, technology stores, beautiful book stores, avant-garde shops and markets. And also with mall centres with shops and leisure offers! To spend a full day shopping in Madrid is perfectly possible; you just need enough time, patience and looking forward to enjoy it!

Most stores and shopping centres open all the day long, whether they are on the periphery, as if they are in the city centre. But the most traditional shops open from 10:00am to 14:00am and from 16:30pm to 20:30pm. Madrid is divided into several distinct shopping areas: Centro, Salamanca, Chueca, Cuatro Caminos, Princesa y el Rastro.

Centro Area (Sol- Mayor-Arenal)

This area is shaped by the Plaza Mayor, the Gran Via, the Puerta del Sol, the Preciado street, etc. Maybe this is the most convenient area for tourists. Here you can buy the typical Spanish souvenirs. But that's not all, because around this district you can buy almost everything: from the most traditional handicrafts, ceramics, leather or jewellery, to castanets, guitars or Manila shawls and flamenco dresses. It is also possible to buy the most modern products and clothes in the famous El Corte Inglés department stores.

Salamanca Area (Goya- Serrano)

The smartest shopping district is Salamanca northeast of the centre, around Calle Serrano. Salamanca is a glamorous place to do shop in Madrid. This area is also called "the golden mile". Top designer names like Yves Saint Lauren, Valentino, Donna Karan, Chanel, Hermenegildo Zenga or Lucchino, are spread around this area. If you can afford to splash out you are guaranteed to find something truly different here.

Chueca Area

Chueca is a trendy, bohemian area, where you'll find real originals and designer goods. It has turned into the most avant-garde and modern part of Madrid. To find real authentic bohemian styles in Chueca, look for the Fuencarral indoor market on Fuencarral street. All streets here are full of modern restaurants, alternative cafes and shops and the most original hairdressers and tattoo parlours.

Cuatro Caminos Area (Bravo Murillo)

Another paradise for purchase lovers is the Cuatro Caminos area, in the north of Madrid. You'll find it between Bravo Murillo street and Orense street, near the Plaza de Castilla. In this area the shopping centres coexist with clothes stores, small shops and markets with the most popular prices.

Princesa Area

If you don't want to hurt your bank balance this is the shopping area you are looking for. Here you'll find the typical clothes franchise stores such as Bershka, Zara, Stradivarius or Pull and Bear. This is the favourite district among the young people.

The Rastro market

The Rastro is the most important market in Madrid. You need about 3 hours just to walk around it. On Sundays and public holidays between 9:00 and 14:00 am, hundreds of street stalls make up this beautiful market around Ribera de Curtidores street and its surroundings. It is an unavoidable visit for every tourist that goes to Madrid, as well as a reference point for Madrid's people. Here it's possible to buy almost everything: from first and second-hand clothes, shoes, books and antiques, to fruit, flowers, accessories, collectable items, music, pictures or the most absurd junk.

In recent years a number of shopping centres have sprung up around Madrid. They offer a combination of all kind of stores, restaurants and leisure offer, such as cinema and sports complexes. The biggest ones are located in Alcobendas, Arroyomolinos, Getafe and Las Rozas.

VAT (IVA) of 16% is charged on most goods in Spain. It is possible for visitors from outside the EU to claim a tax refund from many central shops - shoppers should look for the Global Refund Tax Free Shopping stickers in windows and ask for Tax Free Cheques and keep them along with receipts to be presented at airport customs upon departure.

After a day scouring the shops, you'll need to rest! Take a look at Madrid Apartments
and enjoy the city.

Madrid, the City That Never Sleeps

Madrid nightlife is a world reference. It is one of the world's liveliest cities, a city that never sleeps. Madrid nightlife is known because of its wide choice and its extensive schedule, unique throughout the world: it goes on all night until the sun rises! Madrid clubs and pubs are open all year, all week around. While in most European countries the party finishes around 3 am, in Madrid it extends until the small hours. Madrid's nightlife has something for everybody, whatever your preferences, age or nationality.

Spanish nightlife starts very late, no matter if you are going out for dinner or to party. Restaurants start serving dinner at 20.00 pm until 23.30 pm, and pubs don't get busy until 24.00. In fact, if you go at 24:00 to a club, you will find it empty. Madrileños like to be on the street all the time, going from bar to bar, from bar to nightclub, and from nightclub to after-hours.
After the fall of Franco's dictatorship, in the mid-eighties, Spain experienced a visceral change, going from a strong repression to a complete freedom. Currently it is raising the popular term "movida madrileña", which is related to a change in Madrid's nightlife.

Nightlife is so plentiful in Madrid that the city can be divided into night districts. Each one carries a special style, music or people.

Chueca (metro Chueca)

Chueca is the gay neighbourhood of Madrid, where gay and straight people can freely mix. It has the most diverse atmosphere of the city. Chueca nightlife is sleek and refined. The most fashionable restaurants in Madrid are located in this area.

Huertas (metro Sol)

Huertas is the Madrid tourist centre. This is the land of Irish pubs, pop music and foreigners and the perfect area to go and party from Monday to Thursday. There are some authentic tapas bars around.

La Latina (Metro La Latina)

La Latina is in fashion. It is the oldest part of the city and the perfect neighbourhood to have a quiet drink. La Latina is a Sunday afternoon favourite. You will find madrileños packed into the bars, drinking beer in the squares or chilling out at sought-after terrace spots. It is also a great area to try tapas, and have some drinks on any night of the week. It has a laid-back vibe.

Malasaña o zona de Fuencarral (metro Bilbao o Tribunal)

In Malasaña you'll find young, alternative, rocker and punk people. This is the most alternative area of the capital. Many people compare Malasaña with Camden Town in London or the East Village of New York. Malasaña may not be the counterculture hotbed it was during "La Movida", but it still packs a punch all around Plaza Dos de Mayo and its surroundings.

Lavapiés (Metro Lavapiés)

If you want to enjoy a multicultural atmosphere, head to Lavapiés. It's inhabited by hippies and a large immigrant population, but places to have a drink or a meal with a sleeker look are sprouting up everywhere. The prices here are a bit cheaper than the rest of Madrid. From Indian restaurants and Brazilian bars to clandestine chill-outs and flamenco locals or heavy metal pubs, Lavapiés is, hands-down, the city's multicultural scene.

Argüelles - Moncloa (metro Moncloa)

Located in the north west of the city, it is the prime university area. Here you'll find a young atmosphere from the early afternoon in the tapas area and cafes till night time. It is famous because of the "bajos de Argüelles": they are the basements or ground floors of the buildings, full of bars and pubs. Close to Argüelles there is Moncloa, with most of the electronic music clubs of the city.

Most nightclubs open from Thursday to Saturday from midnight. Closing time depends on the club, but usually it is stretched until 7:00 in the morning. For those who love to party, the after-hours are open until 12:00am the following day.

Find out all about the exciting nightlife in Madrid. Give yourself the genuine experience of getting Apartments in Madrid for a few days in the city.

Zona Centro (Sol- Mayor-Arenal)

Zona Salamanca (Goya- Serrano)

Zona Cuatro Caminos (Bravo Murillo)

The Rastro Market

If there is anything distinctive in the city of Madrid, this is the Rastro. Madrid would not be the same without the Rastro Market, which belongs to Madrid's Cultural Heritage. This is the most famous street market in the capital and one of the oldest markets in Spain.

On Sundays and public holidays between 9:00 and 14:00 am, hundreds of street stalls make up this beautiful market around Ribera de Curtidores street and its surroundings. It is an unavoidable visit to every tourist that goes to Madrid, as well as a reference point for Madrid's people.

The Rastro has a medieval origin. Here it's possible to buy almost everything: from first and second-hand clothes, shoes, books and antiques, to fruit, flowers, accessories, collectable items, music, pictures or the most absurd junk. The Rastro spreads trough a close triangle, delimited by Toledo street, Ronda de Toledo street and Embajadores street.

To facilitate the purchase to the thousands of visitors who come to the market, the products are distributed by streets. So, along the Ribera de Curtidores street are located the handicraft stalls, the antique stalls and the first-hand clothes stalls. Around San Cayetano street are located the painting and the artwork stalls. This street is known as 'the street of the painters', because there are located many art galleries, art shops and all the street art stalls. The General Vara del Rey square concentrates the second-hand clothes stalls. In the Campillo esplanade you'll find a wide variety of articles: leather, tools, music, press, etc. The lovers of antiques have to go to Rodas street.

This market is centrally located, easily accessible on foot, by metro or by bus. The closest metro stations are La Latina and Puerta de Toledo.

The Rastro Market has a large number of visitors: around 100,000 people go every Sunday morning to this market, which enjoys a great international reputation. Many tourists make a stop-over in Madrid only to go to the Rastro. On bank holidays it has less stalls and less people. Those who don't like agglomerations, a bank holiday is the perfect day to visit the Rastro.

The word Rastro comes from a place where the cows were slaughtered, the slaughter house. When the cow were slaughtered and sold they moved them from one place to another leaving a trail of blood. Around the slaughter house we could found the tanneries, a place where the cows were exploited for their skins tanned. From this activity and the name of the street, where it is located, the nickname comes to life "La Ribera de Curtidores".

After a morning of shopping and haggling, the best option is to take some tapas and to drink a good glass of wine. Then, to enjoy of the perfect accommodation, rent an Apartment in Madrid.
