David Beckham Millan

Will The Beckham Clan Be Moving To Milan?

Posted by milanblogger | milan | Friday 12 March 2010 12:41 pm

Rumours are rife that David Beckham, currently playing for AC Milan and living out of a luxury hotel suite in the city, could be buying some prime real estate in the area. George Clooney’s stunning villa on the shores of Lake Como is apparently up for sale, and the Beckham’s are first in the running to buy.

The stunning villa, located in Laglio just 39 miles away from Milan, would offer the Beckham’s the perfect family home. Right on the shore of Lake Como, the villa is home to no less than 30 rooms as well as its very own pool, tennis courts and even a private jetty, giving them the chance to hit the lake in style.

david-beckham-milan

George Clooney bought the villa in 2002, but he’s said to have since become disillusioned with the media attention. He’s looking for a bit more privacy for both him and his TV presenter girlfriend Elisabetta Canalis, which prompted him to put the property up for sale. Prices in the area have shot up since his arrival, and the villa is reportedly on the market for around 26 million Euros.

The Beckham’s first stayed at the villa as guests of George last year and immediately fell in love, both with the villa itself as well as the area. Becks has told friends that it would be perfect for his brood, being in beautiful, peaceful countryside yet still close to Milan, great for his football obligations as well as his wife’s shopping habits. As Victoria is currently still located in LA it would be the perfect chance to get the family back together, allowing David to concentrate on his football career with his family by his side.

Lake Como truly is a beautiful area, and it isn’t hard to see why the Beckham’s have fallen in love with it. Best of all, it’s close to the stunning city of Milan offering the best of both worlds – fabulous countryside with all the buzz of this fantastic city just a short drive away.

If you think a trip to Milan could be for you but you don’t have the budget for a 26 million Euro property, why not consider renting apartments in Milan instead? This could be the perfect way to see everything the area has to offer, and if you feel like seeing whether or not the Beckham clan is there yet simply head on over to Laglio to see for yourself. What could be better?

What to visit in Lisbon

Do you trust the Internet as if it were the Bible?
March 11, 2010 – 12:11 pm | No Comment

Every day we search, copy and share information extracted of the largest world encyclopaedia: the Internet. Point for: the network means the democratization of the information, a great accessibility and, above all, the ability to participate in the creation of a collective database. The Wikis are a system that allow anyone to add or change information in Internet. But this phenomenon is limited: it is not 100% reliable. Internet can cheat us, so we have to redouble the attention.

online-trust

A development that benefits everybody

The creation of the Internet supposes a tremendous contribution to the world population. We do not have only a real life, but also a virtual one: we can find whatever interests us, share experiences and passions with strangers, expand our general knowledge, discover new horizons, and so on. In the professional field, it is also a useful resource. This is a world of great possibilities.

But there is something negative in all this: there is no reliability assurance. Internet is the gateway of the fantasies, the imagination and the lies. You can talk with a friend who happens to be a total stranger, you can read things that are totally wrong and even you can cheat and lie to other people.

The story of a cheat

Another danger that generates the Internet is the transmission of personal data. A few months ago, I tried to sell a camera through a site. A man who lived in London answered telling me he needed this camera as soon as possible because it was a present for his daughter who lives in Nigeria, a graduation gift. He was very friendly, very precise and very polite. As I received many emails with bank justifications, I trusted him. I sent the package with a note and tried to pay the shipping costs – very high to send something to Nigeria… Luckily, I talked about this to a friend who recognized the scam and the shipping company told me that the shipment could not proceed without a photocopy of my passport. Fortunately, finally I did not lose 600 euros.

Now that I think about it, the lack of security was obvious… I never called him and I had a strong suspicion against such courtesy and hurry. But I trusted and I wanted to sell the camera… And of course, the guy did not further contact me at my silence. The final lesson is that the Internet is a temptation: it looks good, but may contain poison. Be careful! The positive thing in all of this is that we can rethink our way of receiving information and we develop our critical spirit.

If you want to know something in depth, what better way to discover it that in the place itself. Travel to Portugal’s capital, a city that undoubtedly will captivate you. With Apartments in Lisbon you are assured a perfect accommodation.

Spiderman Unemployed

Spiderman joins the ranks of the unemployed

It turns out the global economy is so bad that nobody escapes from its rough effects, not even super-heroes, like Marvel’s icon Spiderman. In the next issue of the popular comic book series ‘Amazing Spider-Man’ number 623, coming out this month, Spiderman’s alter ego, Peter Parker, will be fired from his position as photographer for New York City Mayor J. Jonah Jameson.

Who could imagine Spidey ending up on the unemployment line? And on top of all, he will have to hear the words ‘You are fired!’ from his cranky, long-suffering boss. Worst still, Jameson not only sacks Parker, who makes his living as a photojournalist, he blacklists him with every news organization in town. Fans of the Spiderman movies might remember J. Jonah Jameson as Parker’s boss at the tabloid newspaper The Daily Bugle. A few months ago (in comic book time), Parker returned from an inter dimensional journey with the Fantastic Four, Marvel’s superhero team, to find Jameson had been elected mayor.

spiderman-unemployed

How will he pay his bills?

Struggling with unemployment is very hard at these times. But calm down! The web-slinger will still be keeping New York City safe from Venom and Carnage and any number of other dastardly villains he’s tangled with over the years, but he’s going to have to do it between trips to the unemployment line. Poor Peter! This of course raises all kinds of interesting questions, such as how will Parker maintain his Spiderman costumes? Dry-cleaning bills alone must run to several hundred dollars a year. Or, for instance, how will he keep buying the stuff he uses to spin those industrial-strength webs needed to hop from building to building? Surely he doesn’t pick that up at the 99 Cents Store. And what about his rent? He can barely afford to keep a roof over his head!

Well, we hope this ugly situation gets better for him, and for all unemployed people in real life.
At least we can find some consolation in the thought that even super-heroes with super-powers are not perfect.

If you are a true Spidey  fan, when you go to Berlin get a hold of the new comic issue. And to get a perfect stay –without making your pocket suffer, like poor Peter- book Apartments in Berlin.

Spring Poetry Paris

The Printemps des Poètes - Spring Poetry in Paris

Posted by paris | paris | Thursday 11 March 2010 12:53 pm

Poetry is the most complex literary art… But maybe that mysterious dimension is precisely what fascinates us and makes us dream. Writing, reading or listening to poems reminds us of our childhood at school, but the poetry is not only in the classroom, but also in the steets and now it is all around Paris … The Printemps des Poètes (the Spring of the Poets) began in the Women’s Day on March 8, 2010 and will end during the global day of poetry, on March 21st. The land of Ronsard, Hugo, Rimbaud, Verlaine, and many others is awaits you.

printemps des poètes paris

The diffusion of poetry

Over the past eleven editions, the event has been enriched in shows, recitals, plays and meetings that allows the spread of poetry in different ways. For example, there exists an inventory of original initiatives to share the love for the poetry: as “poetic fine” that consists in leaving a poem in a car, poetry reading in the dark under an umbrella, hanging lines in giant panels around the city, to start the class by reading a poem or to practice the bookcrossing (to read a book and once you finish it put it in a public place where someone else can discover it and leave it again when he/she finishes it). There are so many fun ways to appreciate poetry and to make it alive!

The 2010 edition will have as guests the Turkish poets Azad Ziya Eren and Lale Muldur, along with some Russians poets, in honour of the France and Russia Year and the Turkish Station. You can also participate, if you like poetry, if you write it or if you want to learn more about it and enjoy the event. You’ll find great figures or poetry lovers like you with whom you can share your personal and literary experiences, inspire you, participate in the contests or attending to readings and literary workshops. The whole city becomes a giant poem.

Topic: women

What would poetry be without love and women? Muses, lovers, confidants, comforting and writers, women will be the main theme of the Printemps des Poets. A special tribute should be given to the French poet born in Egypt, Andree Chedid, whose work focuses on a reflection on the human condition. Another interesting detail is the exhibition of some 30 poems about hope, the body and nature, illustrated by artists and designers. Then, women affected by HIV virus in Swaziland, a country where one in four people are sick and do not make it pass 30, will embroider the poems.

The French capital seduces everybody and especially during the season of love… Organize a romantic trip and discover its cultural richness. If you rent Apartments in Paris, you will ensure a quiet and cheap accommodation.

Body Sushi Barcelona

In one of the opening scenes of “Mapa de los sonidos de Tokio”, the most recent movie from film director Isabel Coixet, a very special dinner is taking place on the highest floor of a skyscraper. A stunningly beautiful naked woman lays over a table, covered with different kinds of sushi, sashimi and other japanese delicacies, and surrounded by a handful of lucky men ready to enjoy the meal.

Body Sushi Barcelona

That is the essence of nyotaimori ( 女体盛り, literally “presentation over female body”), also known as “body sushi”: the traditional japanese art of serving a meal over the naked body of a model acting as a human tray. Beautiful banana leaves are usually employed to avoid the food touching directly the model’s skin, and flower decorations are also present to either hide or enhance delicate parts of the body. The corporal heat of the model keeps the sushi at the exact right temperature: this allows the dinner to become not only a sensual and exciting soireé, but also a very unique gastronomic experience.

There has always been much controversy about body sushis: from accusations of sexism to insinuations that this kind of dinners only exist in novels and cinema. The first objection is easy to dismiss, as there are also male models who can act as human trays in this kind of events. In that case, the precise word would be nantaimori (男 体盛り, “presentation over male body”). As for the second objection of body sushis being just fiction… Well, that one is even easier to refute: there is a place in Barcelona where you can take part in a real nyotaimori. A very special place that is not located in the heights of a skyscraper, but in the depths of a basement in the centric and lively Raval quarter.

The Scorpion’s Nest (”Nido del Escorpión”) is a non-profit association devoted to japanese culture, gastronomy and BDSM-friendly parties and activities. One of their top events is organising nyotaimoris in a monthly basis, each one destined to a small audience of no more than nine or ten people. The host and hostess of the association try to give a sensual, elegant and friendly atmosphere to the dinners, and also take care that no one is disrespectful with the models.

A nyotaimori in the Scorpion’s Nest involves two dishes served on two different human trays: one dish consisting mainly in different types of maki sushi, and another one with hot (but not too hot!) meals like vegetable tempura, noodles or chicken with teriyaki sauce. Nyotaimori is not only about beautiful models: the food must be also be prepared by a good cook!

You don’t need to buy a plane ticket to Japan, just rent apartments in Barcelona and enjoy good sushi in a new and exciting way. If you need additional information you can contact enelnidodelescorpion@gmail.com or alternatively you can visit the following blog http://nidodelescorpion.wordpress.com . Enjoy your meal!!

Valencia Book Fair

The 33rd Valencia Book Fair is here!

If you like rare books, ancient manuscripts, lithographs and engravings, note this fantastic event on your calendar. The old book market of Valencia will open in spring, along with Las Fallas (from the 15th to the 19th of March). This is a great tradition that transforms the city. The Valencia Book Fair is almost here!

valencia-book-fair

This Valencia Book Fair is heaven for all book lovers, the collectors and the curious, with great offers… 41 book stalls will be installed along the Gran Via Marques del Turia, between Calle Pizarro and the Plaza de Canovas. And what kind of book does a bibliophile like? Special books: books recently published, old books, etc. As an example, the Star Wars books, the Irish ghost stories, The Four Horsemen of the Apocalypse by Blasco Ibanez… You can get pocket treasures only for two euros and other ones can get very expensive (600 or even thousands of euros).

Currently, the most expensive book is the Codex Leicester by Leonardo Da Vinci, a notebook with original drawings and sketches. It was bought by Bill Gates in 1994 for $ 30.8 million. It also highlights the Apocalypse of St. John (75×60cm and120kg) with over 300,000 calligraphy letters in sheepskins. Now we’re in a digital age, the book markets tend to lose the audience, and the value of books goes up…

The city of lights

At the beginning of the spring, Valencia is born again. When the Valencia Book Fair is over, a new one will start: the fallas festival from March 15th to the 19th. The city fills with lights, firecrackers, parades, colours, music and fallas… This is a popular festival that brings millions of tourists each year to Valencia and turns the city into the heart of fun. Take advantage of these two appointments and visit Valencia, a destination whose gastronomy, beach area and people will guarantee a perfect holiday. African Cinema Milan

African, Latin American and Asian Milan Film Festival

Posted by milanblogger | milan | Wednesday 10 March 2010 11:50 am

For 20 years, the city of Milan has organized a unique film festival of African, Asian, and Latin American culture in Italy. This is an extraordinary event that leads us to discover new horizons in independent cinema, away from the blockbusters and commercial topics. From March 15th to the 21st, 80 movies and short films will be screened in five cinemas in the Lombardy capital, a temptation that nobody can resist.

african-cinema-milan

Windows on the world

A festival that invites 50 countries from the southern hemisphere is not common. Thanks to this festival, every year Milan rewards those continents, from which cinema is least present in our cinematographic culture: Africa, Latin America and Asia. There are two traditional sections: “Windows on the World Competitions” where films and documentaries from the three continents participate; and two reserved for Africa: the Best Film Award and the Best Short Film Award.

Outside of the dark rooms, you can take advantage of the Festival Centre, a meeting point that has been set up for visitors to see exhibitions (dance…), have a coffee, to participate in workshops or to play games… all inspired by the cultures of these three continents.

Sport in African society

Moreover, this year South Africa hosts the Soccer World Cup, so the festival will also focus on the relationship between football and Africa. With the recent release of ‘Invictus’ in cinemas, we discovered that rugby was a means of union amongst the people from this country under the leadership of Nelson Mandela. The social role of football, women soccer players as well as the trafficking of young prodigies are some of the topics that reflect the latest on sport in Africa.

“Where is Africa?”

Some countries such as Uganda, Mali, Cameroon, Rwanda, Tanzania, Angola, Kenya and Mozambique shot videos that will be seen in Milan (these videos have already been presented at the African film festival in Rotterdam). The language will not be a problem since all films are subtitled in both English and Italian.

Take advantage of this event and travel to the Lombard capital and rent Apartments in Milan, good pricing and quality you’ll love.

The Capital of Culture for 2010

Each year since 1985, one or several European cities are selected as cultural capitals. For this 2010, Pécs (Hungary), Istanbul (Turkey) and Essen (Germany) are the three selected cities; meaning that many events, exhibitions and parades will be held throughout the year. Pécs has up to 2,000 appointments scheduled under the topic of “city without borders.”

Pécs ethnic minorities like the Gypsies, the Croats, the Poles, the Germans, the Serbs, the Greeks, the Bulgarians, the Russians and the Ukrainians also have an important place in this cultural year.

NASA Satellite Valencia

Valencia - the new NASA satellite

In July 2010, new headquarters for the European space station will be installed in Valencia (Spain). This is a high-power laboratory that will detect breakdown messages and will examine problems of microwave circuits of the satellites and the space vehicles. It is hard to imagine, isn’t it? This is the perfect occasion to learn something about satellites…

Houston, we have a problem!

It is difficult to understand what actually happens in the space. What are these flying machines? They are man-made objects that surround the earth in different orbits. Some follow the path of the Equator, others pass through the poles and some move at the same speed as the earth. The so-called geostationary ones allow us to watch television, for example.

Each one has a special and a spatial function: for example, as meteorological or astronomical observation, mapping, telecommunications… Some satellites can accommodate a couple of scientists, such as the MIR station for example. And for history facts, the first artificial satellite was launched on October 4th, 1957 by Russia and was called Spoutnik 1. From this date onwards, the U.S. and Russia have fought over the first place in space communications. Spoutnik 2 was the first satellite with a living creature launched (the dog Laika). The first American satellite was the Explorer 1, launched in 1958.

Now that you know a little more about what happens in outer space, relax with a blanket watching the stars from a beach in Valencia. If you rent Apartments in Valencia, you will ensure an economic and enjoyable stay.

tattoos gay

The tattoos and the gay world

Symbols, cartoon characters, huge tribal, skulls, virgins, dragons, demons… tattoos are hot. To decorate the skin with permanent drawings is not a simple mode, but it is a way of understanding the beauty, the body and life. It’s no longer considered a trend belonging to any sexual orientation- thank God! -. How can someone think that homosexuality is just a trend? Ridiculous, don’t you think? In any case, it is true that tattoos and the gay world have crossed their paths and it seems that they do not to want to separate. Both have many things in common.

Tattoos Gay

Anyone who knows the history of homosexuality knows that it has been persecuted for centuries. The Nazis, for example, considered the gay people as sick and criminals, and the homosexuality was punishable with prison or death. The gay prisoners under the Hitler regime were identified with an inverted pink triangle in the concentration camps. That’s why today this symbol has become a political edge to the gay world.

You might wonder what has to do all this with tattoos… Although it is true that in many cultures, the tattoo has been a very common and accepted practice, in others it only has served to report the criminals (like the inverted pink triangle). In fact, until the boom of tattooing emerged, the tattooed people were considered criminals or drug addicts. As you see, both tattoos as homosexuality have suffered big stigmas. And to think that nowadays it is almost impossible to find young people without tattooing! And who does not know any happy gay couple in love?

The symbols are the most powerful communication tool that has existed because of its ability to convey a meaning and an intention. Because of that symbols are the most popular tattoos… The gay world is also full of symbols of pride and vindication. There are symbols for everyone: for gay, for lesbians, for bisexuals, for transsexuals, etc.

You probably know that the rainbow is a symbol of gay pride, but you know why? Perhaps you are unfamiliar with signs such as pink triangles, black triangles, red ribbons and many different flags that so many gay people have in a tattoo.

For example, the flag – its most common symbol – is used since the 70’s and their colours symbolize the diversity. The Red colour for the life, the orange for the healing, the yellow for the sunlight, the green for the nature, the turquoise for the magic, the blue for the serenity and the violet for spirit.

Do you know Madrid? The Spanish capital is a reference not only in the tattoo world, but also hosts one of the most charming gay villages of Europe: Chueca. In a few cities you will find the tolerance and the openness like this. Find out with your own eyes! Rent Apartments in Madrid to find a cheap accommodation.

Pope Candidate for Classical Brit Awards

The Pope is a candidate for the Classical Brit Awards

March 08, 2010 By: romeblogger Category: Rome

Will the Pope be the man of the year? At 82 years of age, Benedict sixth will sing for the album Alma Mater. Music from the Vatican is his classical album nominated to compete at the Classical Brit Awards. On the 13th of May, this contest will reveal the best classic songs from the UK for 2010. Let us pray for the Pope to win!

pope-candidate-for-classical-brit-awards

More than a Pope

But Benedict is more than a Pope, he is a modern Pope who appreciates classical music but also pop music: Michael Jackson’s Thriller is part of his top ten albums, along with songs from U2 and Oasis, according to L’Osservatore Romano. A time after he became Bishop of Rome, he received an mp3 with Mozart and Chopin music, and he made his own papal play list.

Perhaps it may be completely insane that the symbol of Christian faith represents England at the Classical Brit Awards, because he puts on the skin of any music star. Some people think he can’t use this medium to bring together the masses. But we are in 2010, you know…

Papal Music

But you might also love the idea of such an active Pope and the fact he loves today’s music. He has lived through many changes of our society and he can participate as well! It’s the public who may vote for the Pope, so mark this deadline: April 23rd. Maybe his classical song will be the best of the year! The prize will be given at the Royal Albert Hall in London.

When we think about the Pope, not only the religious presence comes to mind, but we think about the Vatican as well and Italy in particular. We recommend a stay in Rome to discover the stunning architecture of St. Peter’s Basilica. And if you rent Apartments in Rome, you’ll have the best accommodation.

pentawards exhibition 2010 paris

Pentawards 2010, the aspect is very important

Posted by paris | paris | Monday 8 March 2010 11:48 am

Who said that appearance does not matter? Of course it matters! Especially when we talk about the Pentawards, the only contest in the world that recognizes the design of packaging of all types: from a soda can, to a bottle of conditioner, even a packet of tissues. Here the originality, the aesthetics, the quality and so on are awarded. This is a unique opportunity to gain worldwide recognition in the field of packaging creation and marketing.

exposition pentawards 2010 paris

Pentawards 2010 will take place in Paris until March 27th. The French capital offers a splendid exhibition of selected works in the contest, coming from all over the world. An international jury will be responsible for picking the winners based on the creative quality of the product. This way, three different trophies will be given: Golden Pentawards, Platinum Pentawards and Diamond Pentawards. In addition, all the winners will receive a certificate with their name, the commercial container and the category.

There are five categories that will be contested, divided in different subcategories: beverages like water, soft drinks, juices, beers, wines, spirits, limited series, etc.; foods such as cereals, coffee, fish, meat, sweets, soups, dietary products, etc.; body, such as clothing, health care, beauty and so on; other markets such as household cleaning, decoration, electronics, pet products, etc.; and luxury goods such as perfume, makeup, jewellery, food and culinary goods. A final category includes all the products that are not included in the previous five.

But the Pentawards are not only an award festival, they rather extend the promotion of packaging design to the press, the political and the economic authorities, the companies and the general public.

Discover the more artistic side of packaging … After all, who does not remember a famous packaging like Campbell’s soup? Or the beautiful designs from brands like Coca-Cola… The city of lights will surprise you with the best of the packaging market. Buy your tickets and rent apartments in Paris to make sure you get the best accommodation at an affordable price.
